Why did we stop painting houses with lead paint? How does that help the kids that already ate lead paint chips? Why is there Social Security? It didn't do anything for the people who were old before 1935! What about MEEEEE???

undergrad and grad, because I couldn't afford to quit work and go to college full time. This was after Reaganomics gutted student aid. I REALLY wish I could have gone full time. I used some student loans. And it was cheaper then than now.

But you know what? I'm damn glad people don't have to be crippled by lifelong debt. We're working toward a society where only the spawn of the oligarchy can afford to drink their way through Yale (lookin' at you, Bush), while the proles can only afford vocational school, so that they can work for the spawn for peanuts.

What goes around comes around. Much-needed fields of education are being neglected because graduates can't afford to pay off loans working in those fields. We need more than MBAs and engineers. We're strangling natural curiosity-driven education with student debt.
