why the hell can't they either call him "donald trump" or "former president trump" ?
pisses me off--they give him too much respect by calling him president. ugh!

(35,144 posts)it doesn't apply here
when you're a treasonous douchebag and try to overthrow your own fucking government you don't get all that special treatment like a customary title of president.
it's a new tradition!
(i'd say new rule but .. you know, bill maher)

Even when someone is making a critical point about the Grifter'n'Chief, a good half of the screen will be Mango Mussolini behind a podium, Hair Fuhrer next to a helicopter, Benedict Donald in the Oval Office.
I'm so sick of seeing that pumpkin-hued visage on my screens.

(2,335 posts)problem is apparently undying interest in the man. Everyone appears addicted to Trump. Right now, about 1/3 of the front page posts in General Discussion are all about Trump, and it's like that every day, sometimes far worse.
It'll be the happiest day ever when I can wake up one morning and go all the way to bed without hearing his name even once.

(8,744 posts)though I understand the news interest. After all, how many times does a former president get credibly suspected of violation of the Espionage Act?
Even so it's not like we need to be constantly reminded what he looks like. When CNN for instance has Republicans on criticizing Biden, do they almost always give President Biden half the screen, scrunching the critic into a square in the corner? I suspect not.
We can get information and opinions on the man without all the presidential porn.

(16,331 posts)Or whatever number is assigned to him in the hoosegow.
That said, I'm fairly certain that as a child I was told that the title continues into retirement. "President Kennedy" was long dead when I was told this, but he wasn't "Senator Kennedy". He was "President Kennedy", even if he was dead and Johnson or Nixon was in the WH.
Note that this rules out "former president" as a title. Unless we want "former president FDR" and "former president Kennedy." "Former president Senator Kennedy". It lacks panache.
Not sure I like "Senator Obama", to be honest, as the One True Title for the man.
Then again, we have to "fucking stop calling him" "President Obama." Because there can be only one, per Ms. Manners.
