MSNBC right now. Another Trump lawyer who may go down.

She represents Trump in New York. She just admitted she searched Trump home and office for secret documents. She said she never saw anything. She also stated Trump had many guests in his office. She has no security clearance to go searching for top secret documents. Fucking idiot.

It is just a matter of time before the shit hits the fan for all these lunatics.

They just say things to win the daily news cycle, not even thinking of the legal ramifications. Of course they’ve seen it work for Trump for years with no recourse so I get it.

Not sure I answered your question properly. If DOJ designates a lawyer a witness, that lawyer will testify for the prosecution.

If DOJ designates a lawyer a witness or a target that lawyer cannot be a lawyer for the defense.

Rule 3.7: Lawyer as Witness
(a) A lawyer shall not act as advocate at a trial in which the lawyer is likely to be a necessary witness unless:

(1) the testimony relates to an uncontested issue;

(2) the testimony relates to the nature and value of legal services rendered in the case; or

(3) disqualification of the lawyer would work substantial hardship on the client.

So, generally no.

including private meetings in his office (in what was the former bridal suite). GOP donors and sycophants, and God only knows who else, bought their way in.
From April 9, 2021:
https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/trump-republicans-florida/2021/04/09/fb243b9c-9878-11eb-962b-78c1d8228819_story.html

..."Since Trump left office, at least six Republican candidates have held fundraisers at the former president’s Florida properties. This weekend, at least six more events will be put on by GOP-allied groups.
.....
That control has allowed Trump to continue his unprecedented and lucrative business relationship with his own party. Republicans will pay Trump just to be where he is — or even, in some cases, where they hope he might be.
...

Before Trump ran for office, his hotels and clubs hosted very few political events. But that changed in 2016 — when Trump won the presidency and, earlier the same year, opened a D.C. hotel catering to political fundraisers.

Over the next four years, Trump’s businesses took in more than $11 million from Republican candidates and groups, turning campaign donors’ money into private revenue for the president and his family. Republican groups justified this by saying that Trump charged market rates and that GOP donors felt comfortable on the president’s property.
...

Since Trump left office, he has spent almost all his time at the Mar-a-Lago Club, where he has both a private apartment and a new office in the club’s old bridal suite. The club’s members applaud him every time he shows up for dinner, and again when he departs. Aides say he rarely feels the need to leave the grounds, except to play golf at his own club nearby.

So Republicans come to him.

Some just come for meetings, to pose for photos or videos that can be shared on social media, as a political imprimatur. The bridal suite has hosted a who’s who of politicians looking for what Trump calls his “total and complete endorsement” of their plans, among them House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.), Sen. Rick Scott (R-Fla.), and a range of senators and candidates. On Tuesday afternoon, Sen. Bill Hagerty (R-Tenn.) stopped by."...(more)

Any of those people who came to visit the Teflon Don were possibly foreign intelligence operatives that came to have a meeting. And then he could just reach into his nice treasure trove of top-secret files that he absconded with and do a quid pro quo for disclosing the information to them for money and other valuables that he could cash in ? Ya think ?

My only question is what the fuck has the CIA, FBI, DIA, etc and other intelligence services in law-enforcement been doing to keep an eye on this character? We all know how dishonest and devious and manipulative and just full of shit a person he is and if anybody should be watching this, it's those Guys.

an interview (probably MSNBC) where it was mentioned that the lawyers depend on the honesty of their client. The gist of the comment was that it's ultimately the client who holds the most responsibility if the lawyers are depending on the client information being accurate and truthful. Hope that makes sense. It made sense to me but it may be nonsense. lol

19. she wasn't searching for classified documents - she was searching for financial docs

Sep 2022

She was (supposedly) attempting to find materials responsive to the new york subpoena. She wasn't searching for classified docs. She didn't need to report classified docs to new york.

She did need to report classified docs to the feds. She is an officer of the court and she has a duty to report it if she sees it.

But she can accurately say she found no docs required by the new york subpoena. Well, assuming she actually looked and isn't lying.

So yes, she searched mal. But she did so to respond to the new york subpoena.

Her search had nothing to do with classified documents, but if she saw any, she had a responsibility to notify the feds.

Could she be prosecuted for seeing them? Unlikely unless she took pictures of the docs themselves (as opposed to cover sheets) or told third parties about the contents.

These are two separate searches. Tfg is a complicated litigant.

A couple of possibilities:

1) she could be the mole who ratted trump out to the feds
2) she could be lying about having conducted the search, in which case she is in serious trouble in new york
3) she could be lying about not having seen any classified docs, in which case the feds could nail her
4) 2&3

Say she searched for classified files. She said she was searching for documents regarding Trumps case in NY.

"Alina Habba told a New York court that she personally searched Donald Trump's 'desks, drawers, nightstands, dressers, closets' on May 5. That was for documents sought by NY Attorney General Letitia James in her civil investigation into the Trump Organization's financial dealings"
