The Hamberder Presidency and Post-Presidency

When I was about 14 years of age, my mother mentioned something to me in passing when I was talking about how poorly a few of my classmates were doing in school despite their best efforts. She was a special education teacher at that time, soon to transition to private school teaching which was to be come her workplace until she retired, and her reply to me was two-fold: she said most sincerely and kindly, "Honey, there are two things you must always remember: the first is that many young people have some learning disabilities which are never diagnosed or diagnosed improperly or treated improperly. Many of these children are actually quite bright, some brilliant, but the educational system writes them off as unable to compete and places them in other programs at best or discards them at worst. It is horribly unfair. The second thing, and you need to know this is, that by definition, half of America possesses a two-digit I.Q. - now this test can also be considered unfair in many cases because there are cultural biases against many and (and this was the 1960's) there are many awful school districts which do not teach children how to think. All that aside, there are many millions who are simply mentally incapable of achieving due to brain issues. You cannot expect everyone to come up to your level of understanding, and you need to be tolerant and sympathetic. Some of these people are the nicest people you'll meet in a lifetime, and some of the high I.Q. people are the worst people you'll meet in a lifetime."

I am not paraphrasing much here: this is exactly how she would educate me as to what she perceived as "human nature". she would give well thought-out speeches which she clearly had uttered before to her co-workers or in meetings in which she had been a consultant.

Having dealt professionally with nearly sixty thousand people in my career, I can honestly say that besides suffering from malignant narcissistic personality disorder, oppositional personality disorder, grandiosity, and numerous other pathologies, I will posit here that TFG also suffers from malignant stupidity. I am not at all interested in the brand-name of the institutions which he attended nor do I care what some might say about his "adept" machinations to avoid punishment for terrible behavior, economic sins, and amorality. I believe that it is rather simple: he was born on third base, with a substantial deficit intellectually on a fundamental basis. He learned a few lessons from the mobsters with whom his father and he worked, such as not writing anything down, not admitting any responsibility, and the like. But he acts and acted stupidly in all aspects of his career and was bailed out by family or the federal government in allowing his bankruptcies. His dealings with his sexual partners were functionally fairly inadequate by nearly everyone's testimony, and he paid money to extricate himself from situations that most men get into when they spread or attempt to spread their sperm around town.

Simply put, he's a dope, has minimal functional intelligence and isn't even that good a salesman because whereas it was true that the bottom-feeders bought the used car from him, anyone who is familiar with three-card monte or any other carnival game/fraud didn't truly buy into it. Whereas it is true that many of us know otherwise bright individuals who voted for him and to an extent, will defend his actions, in fact they know in their heart of hearts that he's a phony fraud, but he's THEIR phony fraud, and thus we have tacit agreement with Trumpism. I short, he tapped into the bottomless cauldron of American Hatred and stirred the pot. For those of you who are too young to recall, when the television show All In The Family debuted, there was a huge population of Americans who thought Archie Bunker was telling it like it was, rather than being a comically ignorant foil for the other cast members. These people loved his character and watched the show religiously, thinking that his family was thwarting (my word, not theirs) his attempts to be a true-blue, patriotic American. TFG appealed to the same folk for the same reasons, and all reading here know this. My contention is that that is the sum total of his pitch, and he has no redeeming qualities: even the sociopathic, murderous mob bosses understand aspects of what is required of them, a certain brand of "moral code", a comprehension of their limitations and the knowledge that even a single error could allow the law enforcement establishment to come crashing down on them and acknowledging that the powers are legitimate and exist. TFG believes that no force is equal to his power and that he can use circumstance, no matter how untoward, to his advantage. That was only true to a point, and now I do believe that he has not comprehended the significance of his Seditionist/Treason-filled actions because...well, among other things, he's a dope.

It really seems he doesn't comprehend his dire circumstances. This document theft should be punishable by death.

Interesting that you mentioned "All In The Family". I had just been discussing that show with a friend just prior to reading your OP, and we talked about the very things you mentioned. Archie's only redeeming grace was that he did love his family.
