A federal judge said she would make public a more detailed list of the items the FBI took during its extraordinary search last month of former President Donald Trumps Mar-a-Lago home, opening the prospect of a much fuller picture of what documents might be among the classified material seized, the Wall Street Journal reports.
U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannons decision came during a hearing Thursday over whether to appoint an outside party to review the materials now in the Justice Departments hands to determine whether issues of executive and lawyer-client privilege put some of it out of bounds to investigators.
After hearing arguments from both sides, she said she would issue a written order in due course.

(21,304 posts)was randomly selected. I understand that judge Reinhart couldn't take the case because he didn't have the authority to appoint a special master.
Whoever is filling in for Ari Melber was talking about Trump judge shopping, was talking about the judge's jurisdiction in Fort Pierce being a long distance away from West Palm beach.
I know what the process is supposed to be and I have seen one report that stated Cannon was selected randomly.
There hasn't been enough discussion showing how Cannon got the case to satisfy me, I am a doubting Thomas.

(42,693 posts)In case you didn't notice, today's hearing was held in the same West Palm courthouse where Reinhart held his hearing.
But I suppose that won't matter if you're already predisposed to think that the ordinary rules weren't followed (which would require the assistance of a complicit clerk of court) even though neither the DOJ nor the other judges on the court have raised any concern about her being assigned.

"[b]1 Plaintiff also sought a more detailed receipt for the property seized during the August 8, 2022 execution of the search warrant. D.E. 1 at 19-21; see generally D.E. 28. The Court ordered the government to file under seal [a] more detailed Receipt for Property specifying all property seized pursuant to the search warrant. D.E. 29 at 2. The government filed today under seal, in accordance with the Courts order, the more detailed receipt. Although the receipt of property already provided to Plaintiff at the time of the search, see In Re Sealed Search Warrant, No. 22-MJ-8332 (S.D. Fla.) (hereinafter, MJ Docket), D.E. 17 at 5-7, is sufficient under Fed. R. Crim. P. 41, the government is prepared, given the extraordinary circumstances, to unseal the more detailed receipt and provide it immediately to Plaintiff."
Trump requested it and now will get it. He should really be careful for what he asks for. Once again Garland and Bratt have played him well.
