Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsPaul Simon is coming here for a Tim Ryan Ohio senate fundraiser.
Ryan is running against that jackass JD Vance for the US senate seat. Although the race is within the margin or error, Tim Ryan has raised double the money as Vance, nearly all from small donors like me.
Time to pull out the big guns. Paul Simon won't admit to being a republican or a democrat but he's coming here to Ryan's hometown in NE Ohio for a big donor fundraiser. The show will be at Bruce Zoldan's house. He's the owner of Phantom Fireworks and also doesn't admit to partisan preference, but wants to help Ryan. Tim Ryan is a strong candidate, but I think this shows how much people hate JD Vance too.
Paul Simon to play at benefit
CANFIELD It wont be The Sound of Silence coming from a Sept. 23 fundraiser for U.S. Rep. Tim Ryans Senate campaign, which will include a performance by legendary musician Paul Simon.
The fundraiser is at the Canfield home of Bruce Zoldan, president and CEO of Phantom Fireworks, a Youngstown-based company.
Suggested contributions range from $2,500 to $10,000.
Zoldan has hosted numerous fundraisers at the Canfield home over the years for Democrats and Republicans that have featured musicians, actors and athletes.
A mutual friend contacted me and said Paul Simon is interested in helping Tim out, Zoldan said.
While Simon, 80, performed at the 2016 Democratic National Convention, Zoldan said he was told Paul Simon isnt a Democrat or Republican, but he likes what Tim has to say and wants to help him out.
Zoldan said Simon has always been an idol of mine. I love his music. It will be a once-in-a-lifetime experience to have him perform in a homestyle event. Well get to sit around and listen to Paul Simon perform at the Sugarbush (Drive) home in Canfield.
