Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsAll of these MAGA types are freaked out over Biden's speech.
Get over yourselves and that lying, racist, sexist pig you support.
At least Joe Biden and Kamala Harris have the courage to admit this country has long been, and still is very racist and sexist. And the MAGA movement is the most visible symbol of that. At least Joe Biden is addressing the issue of climate change. At least Joe Biden supports the right to choose. At least he got us out of those damn illegal wars. He has made the difficult decisions and is actually leading rather than pandering to an angry mob.
All of these MAGAs chanting "USA" and attending this con man's rallies should study some history.

That Bidens speech was political served as an excuse for lazy both-sides journalism, as reporters scrambled after the nearest bottle of weak sauce to draw equivalence between Bidens commentary and a movement thats currently calling in bomb threats to childrens hospitals. Biden was quoted laying out an argumentwith evidencethat Republicans were bent on subverting democracy. Republicans such as Kevin McCarthy were then permitted to respond that, actually, Joe Biden was the real authoritarian. (Marjorie Taylor Greene took it further, as she is wont to do, tweeting that Biden was Hitler.) Surely objective reporters can weigh the evidence of these claims and come up with an answer.

(5,997 posts)Biden tagging their movement as semi-fascism was fairly easy on them, IMHO.
DemocraticPatriot
(4,313 posts)Calling them "semi-fascist" was overly polite.
Calling them "nazi wannabees" would be more accurate. Enough of them HAVE already called for all the liberals to be put into concentration camps, or summarily shot...
Cha
(296,877 posts)Exactly!!

(3,074 posts)I thought the speech was very on point. What are you supposed to do when confronting conspiracy nuts, forced birthers and gun freaks? Be nice? I think the speech was appropriate and important.
DemocraticPatriot
(4,313 posts)but we live in "unprecedented times".... with previously unknown threats to our democracy and our freedom...
I have been wanting my president to "take off the gloves" for a long time, and now he is doing it... and I am very happy about it!
The whining from the right only unveils the fascists "thou doth protest too much!"
(I was supporting Sen. Joe Biden for the 1988 Democratic presidential nomination, before he was unfairly railroaded into withdrawing from the contest... However, that may have been a "blessing in disguise"--
because he IS the man for this 'moment'.

(3,074 posts)I was actually more of an Elizabeth Warren supporter during the campaign but Biden has impressed me.
The vitriol spewed at this man every day and night on Fox and hate radio is sickening.
I'm very happy to see him taking issue with climate deniers, forced birthers and racists.
If he happens to be insulting MAGA supporters, TOO FUCKING BAD!
DemocraticPatriot
(4,313 posts)You can tell by how much they scream! lol
They know he is right, and they have no defense...
so they whine about the Marines,,,,,,lol

(3,074 posts)He called out the conspiracy nuts, racists and sexists as he should, He is actually getting things done and not F'ing around on Twitter all day. They hate the truth.
DemocraticPatriot
(4,313 posts)to have a president who was not "fucking around on Twitter all day"---
or starting some nuclear war on Twitter, which was more important...
Now I sleep better, knowing that I don't have a president who wiil start some nuclear war via Twitter, while I am asleep.... lol

(4,313 posts)(although I was too old to be described as a 'Bernie bro')
I supported Sanders in 2016, but voted for Hillary in the general election that year.... and thought she was right with her "deplorables" comment, although that might not have been so wise "politically"....
In 2020, I thought former vice president Joe Biden was the best political choice for the presidential nomination, to run against Trump, so I voted for him (although I probably agreed more with Sanders on issues, I judged that his moment had passed..)
Elizabeth is great, too...
Kath2
(3,074 posts)I liked Liz Warren's a little bit more but I am quite pleased with how progressive the current administration is.
DemocraticPatriot
(4,313 posts)Amen. He has evolved, and is not stupid....
and that Philadelphia speech baited the Republicans, to cry and scream and make themselves appear even worse than they already did.....
There is something to be said for "experience"...
Kath2
(3,074 posts)He has the experience. And they are taking the bait.
