Let us read together-Biden Laid the Trap. Trump Walked Into It.

In 2016, Hillary Clinton warned that Donald Trump was a fool who could be baited with a tweet. This past Thursday night, in Philadelphia, Joe Biden upped the ante by asking, in effect: What idiot thing might the former president do if baited with a whole speech? On Saturday night, the world got its answer.

For the 2022 election cycle, smart Republicans had a clear and simple plan: Don’t let the election be about Trump. Make it about gas prices, or crime, or the border, or race, or sex education, or anything—anything but Trump. Trump lost the popular vote in 2016. He lost control of the House in 2018. He lost the presidency in 2020. He lost both Senate seats in Georgia in 2021. Republicans had good reason to dread the havoc he’d create if he joined the fight in 2022.

So they pleaded with Trump to keep out of the 2022 race. A Republican lawmaker in a close contest told CNN on August 19, “I don’t say his name, ever.”

Maybe the pleas were always doomed to fail. Show Trump a spotlight, and he’s going to step into it. But Republicans pinned their hopes on the chance that Trump might muster some self-discipline this one time, some regard for the interests and wishes of his partners and allies.

1. I have to wonder why Biden chose the time he did to give this speech.

It occurred to me, and obviously I am guessing here, that Biden knows exactly what is going on with classified docs case. Knows that the Pig is in too deep and his ass is about to be deep fried. Biden knew is was "safe and advantageous" to give the speech. Things have progressed to the point where there is no going back for Donnie.

Hopefully this will end the Pig's influence in our politics. Unfortunately, I don't see the christofascist agenda at some kind of low point or turning point. That is going to be a continuing fight. The effects for the Big Lie remain.

Biden has been briefed in some detail it appears. Hence the powerhouse of a speech.

Yes I think it is possible that Trump is about to be roasted and Biden turned on the oven.

I would like to believe Biden knows nothing about the investigation besides what's available in the press.

the threat to our national security, and to the extent the job of POS involves national security, etc., Biden better be kept in the loop.

And if he was not informed about the theft and possible sale of classified documents putting our national security and military networks in grave danger.

For him to be in the dark about these matters is unthinkable and extremely irresponsible.

Just before Labor Day weekend before a lot of people start traveling. Also it was right before football got going which swamps a lot of attention.

They'll be busy traveling, with Joe in their heads, and not the BS spin coming from corporate media. It's also close enough to the elections to give the Dems a kickstart.

if that speech made any difference to the people who needed to hear it. Democrats agreed with what he said, but repukes and RW media bashed it. So did it really change anybody's mind?

I hope so, but I do have to wonder.

13. Just proves that the republican party should be toast, since it can't be trusted to clean itself

of any toxic messes it gets itself into (tRUMP) nor can it even manage money (already spent the majority of money raised for its Senate candidates), hence leaning me to believe (and others too) that they don't know how to even manage money, and I thought that they were the experts on managing money. Go figure, eh?
