... visiting Donald at the White House last week are Yahoo and Newsweek. I can imagine if Biden had made such a gaff it would be front page news across the board. But of course, Biden is president and Donald ain't... (snicker).

I wish that Mehdi had gotten Rachel's slot.

(80,700 posts)Maybe shes still feeling her way along, and some distinguishing routine will present itself in her coverage. But Ive watched the show quite a few times, and Im not impressed.
Still waiting - and hoping, too - that Im proven wrong. But so far, I see nothing there that doesnt scream vacation-relief anchor in the anchor chair.

(3,079 posts)Exactly... describes her perfectly. This is my experience as well. Ali Velshi meanwhile did a rockstar job of filling in for Rachel and with his Ukraine coverage from Ukraine, he really elevated his usual stellar performance. I feel he was intentionally passed over and it just did not seem fair or logical.
Maybe shallow of me, but i just can't take seriously a woman who chooses to not dress appropriately for what she is doing. She's doing a serious job, not socializing at a cocktail party.
I love Joy Reid, and Chris sometimes. Alex was not the right choice.

(80,700 posts)O.M.G.!!! I kept muttering at the TV - "this is the NEWS ANCHOR hour, NOT some cocktail party or something else "after hours," so to speak.
My God! I actually got up close to my TV screen to make sure I was seeing correctly. I thought for sure I'm missing the sheer flesh-colored undergarment that's designed to be seen, whose neckline edges the collar bone. SURELY she has another layer on, underneath that black OBSCENELY scoop-necked top.
Surely...
Oh My Precious God - she doesn't. She's got nothing but bare skin under there. WHO supervised her wardrobe? Frederick's of Hollywood???
HORRENDOUSLY improper dress for a female news anchor. You dressing for the newsroom or the bedroom, girlfriend? You dressing for that cute cameraman or the handsome producer who's on the clock this week, or a mixed TV audience you're presumably there to keep informed?
O.M.G.
I don't know much else that will lose a female anchor that HUGE a pie-slice out of her credibility. I can no longer watch her with anything but a jaundiced eye. Or maybe that's when I go out and water my garden because the sun hasn't quite set til the end of her hour (at least one day a week). Or maybe that's when I go find the cat to give her the once-daily eardrops the vet just prescribed. Or something.
SHAME on her. WHAT was she thinking??? And who neglected to stop her on her way onto the set, and hand her a nice coordinated jacket to put on immediately?

(3,079 posts)I'm really glad it's not just me having an issue with her wardrobe (or lack thereof)! When I mentioned it on another thread here, I was called a misogynist, elderly, and out-of-touch, among other things.
Worse than all that, and at a time when even CNN is veering hard right, I just do not think she is doing what's needed in that MSNBC time slot. Out-of-place perkiness and lots of hair-swinging along with the wardrobe issues leaves me very disappointed.
Repeating myself to probably no one that could change it, I know, but I'd so prefer Ali Velshi... and i think he well and truly earned it.

I find it also incredible that ALL the major networks, CBS, ABC,and NBC, would not carry President Biden's historic speech, labeling it "political" as if it were only campaign fodder.
The loss of a fair and credible mainstream media is absolutely terrifying. If Americans cannot access the truth I fear the future of this country is indeed very bleak.

Its something to keep track of, though.

(5,267 posts)I don't see it as sign of dementia but of his narcissism that in his typical scattered fashion after saying "last week" he immediately veered off into Zuck sucking up to him at WH instead of first telling crowd what Zuck said last week in the interview about how facebook handled Hunter Biden laptop stuff.
