What Is Really Starting To Bother Me Is How Many Cable News Hosts & Talking ....

heads are casually talking about 'the end to our democracy'.

I see such an end as cataclysmic - yet I don't sense the same level of concern as this is being reported and talked about.

"Yeah, well, end of Democracy won't affect you that much, if at all."

"Abortion rights? Well, it's an absract concept, don't worry about it!"

Trivializing things is the new approach, it's suggested you just sit back and let it all happen.

Well, just remember. As an independent individual capable of some intelligent internal mental processing and developing conclusions about the validity and worth of what you are being fed, you may well decide it's all deceptively devious and deviously deceptive.

Feel free to turn off the main-stream media brainwashing propaganda.

This may involve pushing the power switch on your remote, or the application of a brick with maximum prejudice to your TV.

just as democracy seems to be.

When the actual losses start piling up and it’s too late THEN they will be less casual.

It all feels like trying to stop a moving train.

Television is the worst possible medium for news and opinion.

It appeals directly to our emotions, bypassing our critical thinking skills.

It normalizes what is not normal, and manipulates us emotionally.

Television brought us Trump. That's unforgivable.

to a leftist writer who suggested that billionaires should pay more of a fair share of taxes so poor people can earn a living wage. Joe and Mika helped get the Fascist orange bastard elected in 2016 so I really hate their fucking guts for that.

of persecution, for saying something wrong. They have free speech now and are safe - why don't they feel the fear of the possibility of being punished for saying the wrong thing? They think they will be part of the ruling class?

Know it when you see it and don't get outraged, since that's exactly the reaction they want.

No, there's no concern shown because people don't want to lend credence to this toxic talk in the public arena.
There's already enough anti-democracy talk through right wing sites, podcasts and radio these days.

I knew we had really lost some part of our collective souls when elementary school kids had "active shooter drills" and all it was was a news story. Same MSM owners have the most stock in the gun/defense industry. (And big pharma, health care, oil companies, big agriculture...)

would be talking about the end of democracy as if it would be a cataclysm is if it would affect profits.

That's sad, I know, but it is the truth. Shareholder profits are held to be more important than everything else - workers, consumers, the environment, democracy. None of that is important to Wall Street. The main thing is keeping profits up!

They are convinced they’re immune from any ill effects of a dictatorship as well as they lack the ability to stretch their minds far enough to understand the actual reality of such a situation. Since they’ve never experienced life under a dictator, they don’t know and they don’t care.
