Republicans and education

I'll be honest. after everything our group has witness when it comes to Covid, we're convinced that we're seeing the results & casualties from "The War On Education" by the GOP.

The bigotry, the hate, the selfishness, the racism, the misinformation, the disinformation is truly incredible & off the charts. And a lot of it, 98% I'd wager, is coming from very ignorant people. In many cases it's not solely their own fault but rather they're illustrative of how bad our education system is in this country due to Republicans cutting & gutting it for decades.

And those catastrophic results can be seen in New Orleans......

Which serves 4 goals.

1) lower taxes
2) creates another business the wealthy that can siphon off tax dollars
3) keeps the poor people under-ducated, which makes them more malleable and can indoctrinated, and
4) less of a threat to the wealthy kids trying to get into elite college programs.

The big money behind privatization wants to make it about values, "grooming," "woke," "pedo" etc.--LIES. It's all about MONEY from privatizing public schools. Corporate charter schools are gold mines for conservative big money. Then our tax dollars can be used to buy conservative-obedient politicians.

to fight this was years ago. The barn door has been left wide open and the horses bolted a while back. Ever gone to a school board meeting? I did, the whole time my boys were in school. There were about 4 others parents there. And that was on a good turn out meeting. Ever look at the election results for a school board election? The votes are miniscule. A tiny fraction of what they SHOULD be. When you leave the hen house un-guarded, the wolves WILL come in. And that is exactly what we are seeing now. This has been years/decades in the making.

for a year now in FL. Here the governor appointed a state commissioner of education who has close ties to a huge corporate charter school business. The CEO of this corporation is a huge donor to DeSatan and other reThugs here. Conservative, of course, and governor brought in Hillsdale College to oversee teacher civics training. And Gov. DeSatan shilled around the state for his chosen school board candidates.

School board meetings here are too well attended--by Proud Boys and Moms for Liberty. The meetings last September when masking for COVID was an issue were vicious, with profane rants by anti-vaxxers and threats to local school board members.

So Dems and everyone who values public education should fight now, so things don't get worse.

Positions on school boards and in district administrations are lucrative opportunities for graft. And nobody is much interested in reforming education.

I attended school there for right around a year as a kid, and my parents were appalled at the corruption.

Most public schools are well run and produce good results, and a lot of charter schools are garbage.

The public school system is by and large a great success. People always point to a hand full of bad examples when the vast majority of public schools are excellent.

They came from the most literate country in the world: England. So, our new colonists could read the paper and understand, and see through the lies and contradictions. There were no publication laws at first: All the founders published hit pieces on each other anonymously, and there was nothing to stop the lies. But somehow, the patriots saw through them and clung together and won.

Dewey and Education: Our society is based on a well educated electorate. Otherwise, it's dictatorship. Because, as the GQP is finding out, stupid people are ungovernable.
