(1,893 posts)Not that the bad things that have happened are his fault necessarily, but between the mass shootings, Proud Boys, Oath Keepers, threats of violence against the FBI, Dobbs, school boards being hijacked by loons, one party pushing for theocracy and civil war, etc.
Is the leadership and policies out of the White House better? Absolutely.
Is the country itself better? Due to things that have happened, even if beyond his control, Im not sure they are.

(8,084 posts)Isn't Obama to make a reference to president Biden.
And as you say a lot of things that are taking place are ripple effects on the last administration. That was let's not put it mildly the absolute worst that we have lived through.
And far worse than Nixon, because at least the republicans back then had enough integrity to finally tell Nixon to give it up

(19,037 posts)Think of the mess Trump left. Because of his mishandling of Covid, we were in the middle of a horrible Covid wave. Also because of his mishandling of Covid, the economy was in the tank having had the worst year for growth in nearly 80 years and the worst jobs growth in decades. Because of Trump, and on his order, a group of anti American miscreants tried to violently overthrow our Democracy. The country was a total mess in early 2021. Biden turned it around quickly, 2021 would become the best year for jobs growth in our nation's history, the best year for economic growth in 40 years, and the best year for wage growth in 20 years. 2022 saw global inflation as a result of Covid and Biden's steady hand has guided our economy through the worst of it and has the economy ready to grow again as a result, all the while jobs growth has continued its hot streak unabated.
And that's not even getting into his mountainous legislative achievements nor his restoring America's global standing at the head of the table.
Biden gets an A+, historians will be very very kind to him.
