My Story About the Queen

In 1978 I was in a special college class touring Europe.
On a hot day in June we were on our tour bus in London.

Our guide told us that if we hurried we could perhaps see the parade.
It was the one-year anniversary of the 25th Silver Jubilee. (Who knew that was a thing?)

We trotted up to the road at stood with British people that had been there all morning.

Within 5 minutes the Queen rode by side saddle on her horse.

Later that trip I bought several albums at the record store to bring home.
I had no idea about the bands. Just bought them on a whim.

I got first recordings of The Clash and The Sex Pistols.

I was, randomly, for the one and only time I've been to England proper (though I was soon to be living in Hong Kong, BCC) ... in London at the time of the Silver Jubilee (so one year before) as a little kid.

When I was there, it was ALL ABOUT Abba - Arrival. You went at a better time
