and the monarch is the head of the church. But there are also a lot of Catholics there, as well as Jews, Muslims, Hindus, and other religions. People have freedom of religion in England, although I think the CoE is supported by everyone's taxes.

I asked my grandmother.....so Henry VIII made it up so he could divorce his wife to marry his pregnant girlfriend, who he later had beheaded?

Grandmother, after a long pause.....well we don't put it like that

I was raised raised Southern Baptist. I always thought it was absurd.that Baptists formed their own religion because the Methodists and Presbyterians and others didn't dunk people when they baptized them, they just poured a little water over their heads. I thought it was silly to argue over such trivial things. Baptism is symbolic, anyway, so what difference does it make how wet you get when you are baptized? And the Southern Baptists had split away from the northern Baptists over slavery. One would think they would have rejoined the rest of the Baptists after slavery ended, but the Southern Baptists are totally into right wing politics, and they think that's more important than actually behaving like Christians.

I actually urged a coworker to do it for his baby (he did), because while it meant nothing to him and his wife, it meant so much to his parents.....and that is what counts I suppose.

but I never had kids, anyway. And my parents, being Baptists, don't approve of infant baptism. In the Baptist religion, you don't get baptized until you get old enough to have your conversion experience. Then, when you get baptized, you become a member of the church where you were baptized. I guess you're on the road to hell before you 'get saved.' They believe that heaven and hell are literal places out there somewhere. They talk about the torments of hell a lot. It keeps people getting saved, which keeps them joining the church. Nobody wants to go to hell.

Kinda like Texas always has this lone star thingy...England had their own church within the Catholic Church...They had more autonomy than the rest of the countries. At least that's what I read in one of my son's history books.

Charles has said he does not to assume the title of "Defender of the Faith." The British Empire made England/UK more than a little diverse as all those faiths were brought back to the little island. Faiths.

It'd be interesting to know what the minister Fox had on was saying. ?
