Throughout her 96 years of life, Queen Elizabeth II was an ardent lover of corgis. Now, with yesterday's announcement of her death, the late monarch is survived by three remaining dogs.
Though no arrangements have been publicized yet, royal expert Victoria Arbiter told The Independent that the dogs will likely be rehomed by another royal.
"We can only speculate on plans for the corgisnothing is left to chance with the royal family," Arbiter said. "The royal family is a family of dog lovers, though none are particularly fond of corgis. The queen was definitely the lord and master and had a wonderful way with them. They were known to nip ankles of the royal family."
The late monarch owned more than 30 corgis in her lifetime. Under her care, they lived lives of luxury and leisure. The Independent reports that they had their own room in Buckingham Palace, dubbed the Corgi Room, where "they slept in elevated wicker basketswith sheets refreshed dailyand were tended to by the queen herself. Their menu was extensive and included fresh rabbit and beef, served by a gourmet chef."

(33,643 posts)I'd imagine they'd fetch a minimum of $100K a piece, if any are young, they'd go for more than that.
Sorry if that's morbid/too soon.

(23,307 posts)the lifestyle to which the royal corgis are accustomed! I mean, I did take my dogs to the creek last night to romp around...but neither of them eat fresh rabbit or get their dog bed sheets changed daily.
Never too morbid or too soon...

(34,373 posts)she met them, which was apparently a very rare occurrence. She was okay in my book after I read that because dogs are great judges of character. Perhaps become California dogs?

(2,886 posts)Cant imagine what fresh would cost. Id love to try to duplicate my moms roasted rabbit from my childhood, but at 40 bucks for one rabbit Im not going to anytime soon. And she feeds it to her pampered pets.
