(32,078 posts)I also suspect that the size of each delegation will be limited, due to space limitations. If they invite others beyond the head of the country + spouse/significant other, one would think that the family would prefer that the Obamas accompany the Bidens. The Queen didn't break out the "anti-evil" ruby tiara for them, like she did for Girth Vader.
Irish_Dem
(46,854 posts)Biden might have some leeway but he would not be allowed to invite high risk trouble makers.

Never been a fan of Tapper.
DET
(1,305 posts)Tapper said it would be clever for Biden to invite Trump since Trump would almost definitely turn down the invite since he couldnt handle being subordinate to Biden on the trip. Sounds about right. Meanwhile, Biden gets points for his generosity. Apparently the monarchy is leaving it up to each countries head of state to determine who they want to bring with them to honor the queen.
Re Tim Ryan, I dont know why he is stirring the pot before the midterms. Guess he wants to run for the Presidency, but this is not the time to flaunt his ambitions.
BTW, I got all this while briefly switching from MSNBC to CNN during commercials.
Just A Box Of Rain
(5,104 posts)he said what you wrote.
That it would be a "clever" way to make Trump look subordinate (which he'd likely refuse).
I don't agree on the tactics (I'd not invite TFG under any circumstances), but this isn't some right-wing move by Tapper or by CNN.

When I was in graduate school, one of my fellow classmates was specializing in the psychology of serial killers and he had met and corresponded with Ted Bundy quite a bit and talked about him frequently. After we graduated I lost track of the student and Ted Bundy.

(14,144 posts)tRUMP must swim from the southern tip of Florida then swim through the shark infested waters of the Caribbean Islands. Then swim up the east coast - at all times staying 200 miles off shore in international waters. He is forbidden from coming ashore.
No food or water can be provided for him - he can carry all the supplies he needs lashed to his back. No support staff can assist him. No buoyancy devices or life preservers inflatable or otherwise can be used during his entire swim.
Once he gets 200 miles off the Maine coast he can then take a sharp right hand turn and complete the short swim to England on the other side of the pond. It might be advisable that he get an early start so as to assure he gets there in ample time to meet up with the US delegation and then attend the QE-II funeral.
Although he will be badly water logged. He will not need his layer upon layers of orange pancake makeup. He should have very very nice dark natural tan for once.
On the return trip home he can be lashed to one of the wings,.. with industrial duct tape, onto Air Force One. That will be a kind jesters, seeing how that will save him the swim back home.
tRUMP is a macho tough guy. He will relish the challenge to swim across the entire Atlantic Ocean. Just imagine the bragging rights and boost to his ego this will bring once he pulls this off.
Go tRUMP,. Go tRUMP,.. GO tRUMP
Swim the entire Atlantic.
Make tRUMP less obese again.

I believe AF1 is meant to serve as a mobile secure command post in case of war. Letting a known security risk and possible foreign agent on board it is beyond inadvisable. After letting that slime ball on board, it'd need not only steam cleaning, but a bug sweep...

Invite him, then he'll probably decline. Bush, Obama, Clinton and Biden DO NOT LIKE him. They will all be talking in a group while he was a loner, would make a great photo op.
