We don't step foot from the house without a mask on. But American seems to be over it.

I am very glad for this. I was wearing a mask there anyway, but now every one else has them too - very grateful.

13. You wear them outside your house when no one else is nearby?

Because most Americans are over that level of caution - and most Canadians, from what I observed on vacation.

I still wear a mask in 2 places: Public Transportation and the Grocery. It's still about 1/3 masked in those places where I live.

If I am doing yard work around the house, no, I don't wear a mask, but if I am going out to the store or anywhere that might have even one person, I wear masks.

2. Many disabled people are in group homes got Covid in 2020

My son has a wonderful group home, but he got Covid in March 2020. That was 2020 and things were very different. There were no vaccines and limited information. Although I realize this is just a posting of a statistic, statistics are being used to “prove” points. Republicans say that test scores are down so public schools should not have been closed. People argue that disabled persons in group homes and community settings were more likely to get Covid in 2020 so group settings should not reopen years later. 2020 Covid was a totally different situation. Things had to close down. (This is very political because Republicans in Virginia know that closing schools elected Youngkin. They are still fighting the issue for political purposes).

3. My adult daughter lives in a group home (three residents, two staff)

and despite pretty impressive precautions (all vaccinated, all boostered, no visitors except immediate family with masks, no day trips to restaurants/movies/etc) every one of them and every staff member got covid. I suspect that staff members (who were all required to be vaccinated) were exposed in their free time. Residents went to their workshop jobs wearing masks, as did everyone at that location. My daughter cannot tolerate a mask, and she was kept at home ( it's been two years now).

I feel that these women, all with intellectual disabilities, received excellent preventive care, much the same as they'd have were they living at home.

I'm sure that more crowded group homes, group homes with laxer regulations, caused the spread of covid among institutionalized patients, but not every resident of a group home was at greater risk than the rest of us.

7. Has anyone heard about COVID decimating people suffering from COPD?

I have not seen anything beyond anecdotal stories where doctors and ERs are reportedly experiencing a massive decrease in issues/patients with COPD. They are seeing far fewer patients with COPD and they are fearing that COVID took an especially large toll on them.

There are so many states that still continue to lie about Covid deaths, I worry we will never know.
Florida's official numbers are/were absurd and not in any way accurate, I imagine they are not alone.

11. Long Covid is what sounds horrible to me

Seems like thousands are on social media with their stories. They are now saying it’s similar to ME/CFS. I live near a very small NM town. No one is masked anywhere- except me and a few others.

A local woman author I follow, Alicia Valdez, had Covid 4 times, became really sick with long Covid for a yr - recently recovered- moved to a new house near the forest and said she is going nowhere near people but now well enough to hike.

The below post kind of goes into what I go through at work. I end up right in customer's faces sometimes, I do the best I can with being vaccinated, hand sanitizer, wearing my mask and of course washing my hands.
Unfortunately there are other conditions related to Covid that are also scary. 😥

Home Depot😉 ) I swear there are days I don't see any masks. Unfortunately in a eight hour shift, I see maybe five and that's when we are busy.☹️ I'm the daytime cashier for the garden center, we have a plexiglass sort of divider(they are also inside). The problem is, if a customer can't hear me or I can't hear them, I have to kind of peek around and end up right in their face, sometimes it feels intimately close. (It's weird), but it's generally less than maybe 2 ft, no matter what. I just picture those graphs of people spitting particles on each other. Other than a mask I don't know what else to do (of course I wash my hands and sanitize as often as possible.)
I was fortunate enough to be able to stay home for 2 years, (I gained almost 70lbs. I've lost half of that, but have a ways to go) but had to go back to work.
I feel so much better working than sitting at home, but hate that I'm missing certain key moments in live news.
