My beloved Huskers fired one of their own!

Head Coach Scott Frost was let go after a horrific loss to Georgia Southern and his 16 & 31 record over 4 plus years.

Here is the justice of it all. Mickey Joseph will take over for the remainder of the season. Joseph, like Frost was a former quarterback for the Huskers in 80’s. Joseph will be the first African American HC for the University of Nebraska. Joseph is a well liked upcoming coach. I’m excited to see how he responds to the high expectations and challenges.

Oh and Frost took the headlines away from Trump.

Beat Auburn in the Peach Bowl. Auburn was the only team to beat the eventual national champion Alabama. Scott Frost should be rehired at UCF. He put them on the national map and is hero worshiped by football fans in Central Florida. (Gus Malzan, former Auburn coach is the current UCF head coach. He's an asshole. Even in church on Sunday. Recruits are turned off by him. Just sayin'.)

And his feet are wrapped in calf embryo Gucci tassel loafers. University of Nebraska gave him a 5 year contract for $5mil a year (IIRC). UCF could only pay $1.5mil a year. I remember the fans begging the UCF booster's sugardaddy to do something. $3.5 mil × 5 years is a lot of something...plus going home to UN as a savior has to be a dream.

It's not about coaching. It's about players, and they no longer consider Nebraska one of the elite places to showcase their talents. The state is too far from football hotspots like Texas and Ohio for parents, and having to rely on home state talent there is just not going to cut it.

If memory serves.

You are right about recruiting. That’s the whole game now. Mack Brown at UNC is tearing up recruiting in Tidewater. One of his selling points is that Chapel Hill is only 3+ hours away as opposed to Blacksburg which is a long 5 hour drive. Much easier for parents to see their kid play. Va Tech used to get a large amount of recruits from there.

If UN wants a national championship contender they will be able to buy one. Look what Texas A&M and Miami (FL) have spent for/on the class of '23 players. Millions. (Actually, what someone has spent on behalf of the universities would be more accurate.) The new sheriff in town in college athletics is money. And lots of it. Sad, really.
