Trump Told Aides 'We're Never Leaving' After White House Loss: Report

Former President Donald Trump reportedly told his aides in the days after his 2020 defeat that he would not depart the White House, defiantly insisting, “I’m just not going to leave,” CNN reported Monday, citing an upcoming book from reporter Maggie Haberman.

“We’re never leaving,” Trump reportedly told another aide, according to the New York Times journalist’s book, “Confidence Man: The Making of Donald Trump and the Breaking of America.” “How can you leave when you won an election?”

Trump’s apparent refusal to depart was later put on display on Jan. 6, 2021, when he told his supporters that he would not concede because the election had been “rigged” and “stolen” from him.

“We will never give up, we will never concede. It doesn’t happen. You don’t concede when there’s theft involved,” he told his supporters that day, while falsely claiming that Vice President Mike Pence could stop Congress from certifying the election’s results.

Trump queried the valet who brought him his Diet Cokes on how he could stay in office after the 2020 election, book says

Donald Trump queried aides — including the valet who brought his Diet Cokes to the Oval Office — on whether he should refuse to leave office after losing the 2020 presidential election, according to a book from a New York Times reporter.

CNN reported Monday on the details from reporter Maggie Haberman's book, "Confidence Man: The Making of Donald Trump and the Breaking of America," which is due for publication on October 4.

Trump, Haberman writes, told aides that he would refuse to leave office after losing the 2020 election. He told one, "I'm not going to leave," and declared to another that "we're never leaving," adding, "how can you leave when you won an election?"

Trump even asked the valet tasked with delivering his Diet Cokes directly to his desk in the Oval Office about what steps and strategies to take in contesting the 2020 election, according to the book.

Poster child as to why this country needs a high inheritance tax. If Donald Trump didn't inherit money he'd be hustling three card monty in Times Square.

Trump made statements prior to this admitting he lost. This is just another cover job for Trump. Trump had to pretend he thought he won, thought he was cheated, to play the con with the unwashed Magats to raise money, and to make it harder to prove criminal intent for prosecutors.

Haberman may have the story right that Trump told White House staff he was staying, but he fucking knew he lost the election. It's another of his con games.
