I'm surprised Amtrak cancelled in advance of the deadline.

I took the Texas Eagle in July.

The trip took 12 hours from San Antonio to Dallas.
The only food available was crappy stuff like Hot Pockets.
We were constantly yielding to freight trains.

When I took the same route in 2018, it was wonderful. We got to eat in the dining car and hang out on the observation deck. It was so much fun and just a great way to see the back roads.

I dragged hubby on the train because I had such a great time in 2018. Wish we would have taken the truck to Dallas. We missed parts of the convention etc.

are posting in our FB group about the strike. It seems serious. When my husband worked there he was told that they were not allowed to strike. I guess the people that told him that were wrong.

The President can impose "months-long" cooling off periods to encourage negotiations before a strike is allowable.

Hopefully in the workers' favor. We happen to have just the right president in place for this, for several reasons.

This could be a plus if Biden is seen as the mediator in the solution to this mess.

If it doesn't and he is in the middle of it, that won't play well.
