That he really likes women? That if theyre ok with having their lives controlled by the government, you should be too?
This guy is lower than plant life.

NOTE: I made a statement in the original version of this post that I now realize had homophobic overtones. At the time, I did not think it was a truly homophobic statement, because in my mind, I was not commenting about his sexuality. What I meant to comment on was his making a big show of pretending to care about women, when in reality, I don't think he actually cares one iota about women. Unfortunately, I tried to make that point in an inappropriate way that (deliberately or not) implied something about his sexuality that I truly did not intend. So I have edited this post to eliminate that part of the comment while still conveying my (very low) opinion of him.My opinion of Lindsey Graham is that he is a disgusting jerk who is happy to use women as political props but doesn't actually know anything about women or what we want or need and doesn't give 2 sh!ts about what happens to any of us. His little abortion ban publicity stunt is just that: a transparently hypocritical publicity stunt. If he thinks he's going to make points for his party with that, at a time when women's reproductive rights are literally under siege in this country, he's even dumber than I thought he was. //end rant

(23,975 posts)Unless someone is working in OB-GYN, most people have not seen a vagina because you can't unless you are using a speculum.
You can see the labia, the clitoris, the vaginal opening, the perineum - collectively known as the vulva.

(23,975 posts)...about abortion since the SCOTUS decision has re-emphasized the woeful general ignorance about women's health and anatomy, like the politician who wondered how women could urinate when they have a tampon in place (I saw that here on DU a few days ago) or the one who says a fetus isn't attached to the mother's body.
People seem to have no trouble knowing and naming the various parts of male genitalia - scrotum, testicles, penis, even head and shaft, but everything "down there" for a woman is the vagina. Our assorted parts deserve the same knowledge and respect.
On a humorous side note - I don't think I could ever own a Volvo.

(23,975 posts)...from nursing school who, despite being in her 40s and having given birth to 3 children, was embarrassingly ignorant of her own anatomy. We were having a class on the urinary system, and catheters were being discussed. The professor showed a few different ones, and our classmate, who was a bit of an airhead, piped up, "How will that little tiny thing stay in place? My husband is much bigger than that and he fills me right up."
Most of us in the class were 19-21 years old, and many of us had not yet relinquished our virginity, but we knew more than she did and had to work really hard not to burst out laughing.
As I recall, she flunked out.

(16,379 posts)I think this was the message he meant to send: "That if theyre ok with having their lives controlled by the government, you should be too."
Lindsey, this may come as a shock to you, but everyone knows there are women who want to outlaw abortion. That is NOT a surprise to any of us. Furthermore, those of us who support a woman's right to choose are repulsed rather than imressed by you surrounding yourself with those women like you're making some big dramatic statement with their presence.
You tried. You missed. By a country mile!

(10,163 posts)But that's not banning it.
About 26 states wanted to ban it all together before the Supremely Religious Court passed their religious decree and said go ahead. But it seems not all those states are so quick to enact total bans anymore.
Even Roe v Wade put restrictions on abortions.
"The Court divided the pregnancy period into three trimesters. During the first trimester, the decision to terminate the pregnancy was solely at the discretion of the woman. After the first trimester, the state could regulate procedure. During the second trimester, the state could regulate (but not outlaw) abortions in the interests of the mothers health. After the second trimester, the fetus became viable, and the state could regulate or outlaw abortions in the interest of the potential life except when necessary to preserve the life or health of the mother."

(10,163 posts)Anthony was a Quaker and she believed everyone was equal. She never expressed opinions one way or the other about forced birth. Though some of her newspapers did carry articles about it. This group manipulated this to assume Anthony wrote the articles.
Is it me, or does this group of women come off as creepy looking? Maybe it's because I know they are trying to legislate their religious beliefs onto all women.

(11,767 posts)Beliefs. My sister has a granddaughter-in-law, who is a rw meme dream. Hates government leaches, yet bragged about a niece being approved for WIC and food assistance. She doesn't have a problem with it, as long as it's people she apporoves of... And after all, it's Her tax money! Yeah, that makes total sense, hon.😖
My sister has no contact with her grandson these days, because of his weirdo wife. First time ever, no phone call on my sister's birthday this year, she's 79, many health issues. They were very close before the Trump cult issue. The wife is a "pure blood", maga antivax . 🙄 It's all downhill from there. I feel so sad for my sister, because she doesn't really understand the whole antivax thing. It's a bad situation for us, and I'm sure for many families with elderly loved ones. There's no way to make it better. You can't fix it. I pray a lot.
