That their Leader would give them a pardon if they broke the law?

That they were exempt from the laws everyone else must obey?

That it was all a game to them and an excuse to get together?

So they just put their blinders on and hope their luck will continue to hold, much like their brainless leader does all the time. Trump set the pace and they follow without question or doubt. "It worked for Trump, so I should be okay."

I don't think any of them initially saw where it was all headed. Just a little compromise here, little compromise there. After all, politics is all about compromise and bending the rules - one more trade-off can't hurt.

... that their Leader would ultimately prevail, would be given his 'rightful place' in the WH as the legitimately re-elected pOTUS, whereupon his loyal enablers wouldn't be prosecuted, but rewarded for their participation in ensuring that outcome.

One can only imagine the shock-and-awe of the PTB in the GOP as they began to realize that things had not exactly gone as planned, and pardons would not be forthcoming for anyone - now or ever.

There's nothing more pathetic than a bunch of losers realizing that they'd been betting on the wrong horse all along, and the consequences of doing so are going to be catastrophic.

Not many presidents have lost their 2nd term. Even Raygun with his obvious dementia and Nixon with his obvious criminal activity didn't lose their 2nd terms.

W had to move votes through different servers in Ohio and Chattanooga to get a 2nd term win. But it passed the blind leading the blind test so our country pretended it was a 2nd term win.

TFG thought the fix was in for him too. I wonder what vote rigging didn't take for Trump? Did they really think that 2nd set of electoral ballots was going to win it for them? Or was that just a bad back up plan? Was vote by mail his downfall? Was GA assumed to go with him and they didn't rig enough votes there? Or were they just flooded with too many votes for Bidden that they just couldn't compensate with the rigging and gerrymandering anymore? New voters voting is always a wild card for vote rigging too. Or maybe GOP vote rigging central just got tired of all the Americans dead from COVID, and didn't do their job?

Trump was so pissed and surprised. Yeah, he knew the fix was in for him to win but it just didn't take. I wonder what was the problem? So Trump is pissed because he thinks his buddies at GOP vote rigging central let him down.

We have to flood the votes in order to get a real honest win for democracy. So many votes that the rigging is not enough but I actually think that can happen.

but I have no illusion that any prison sentences will reflect the damage they did.

Right now, they're nibbling their way up the treason food chain, the little people having already testified and the mid level now sweating it all out--do they perjure themselves to save the bosses or do they risk everything and rat them out?

The Mafia confab in DC last week shows the bosses are worried.
