Was Talking With Some Friends About Abbott & DeSantis Sending Immigrants To Sanctuary Cities.....

and we were discussing how their intended disrupting actions can be stopped. How can we take the wind out of their intended smart aleck actions that they think they are proving a point.

The United States is a big, big country. It is a country that has built a reputation on taking in immigrants and giving them a new life.

Think Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty.

Word should go out to cities and communities all over our country that would be willing to take a busload of immigrants and give them a new life.

As a big, big country - we have the ability to assimilate a large number of immigrants. Certainly there are cities and communities that have the money and the ability to accept these now helpless people and aid them in becoming contributing members of our nation.

So our resolution to shoving it back in the faces of Abbott and DeSantis is to identify those cities/communities that would be willing to welcome a busload of immigrants and tell Abbott & DeSantis to send them to us.

Instantly - the point that Abbott & DeSantis think they are making becomes defused. It kind of makes them look stupid and foolish for trying to think that they are pulling something over on us.

And as we take these immigrants in - we provide housing and jobs. We provide them with English language classes. We get their kids enrolled in schools. We give them classes in citizenship and work with them to become citizens of this great country.

This was our solution to shoving it in the faces of Abbott & DeSantis and making our country greater in the process.

What do you think?

And they're doing this to score points with conservative talk shows, and that's about it. Notice how the conservative shows get priority notification before anyone else does? What they're doing is a deliberate and intentional political hit job. This whole thing is to score points with Fox News and other white wing asshole talk shows and to write campaign ads. It's truly disgusting and I think Biden needs to put a stop to it now.

so it’s not a National strategy but how could they possibly thinks this helps their side? It’s just flat out cruel and dehumanizing. How could they think this brings anyone TO their side? That, I don’t get.

What they're doing is completely racist and totally disgusting. I don't think they're trying to recruit new members. I think they're trying to stir up their base. This gives fodder for the white wing asshole talk shows (like Carlson, Hannity, Jones, Shapiro and so on) and to write their next campaign ads. It even said in the article that they were letting the conservative shows know before the general public. It's entirely a publicity stunt, so to them who cares if a few hundred lives are affected?

immigrants... maybe it was asylum seekers... were released to people here, family usually. They were given a hearing date and something like over 95%, I think, showed up for their hearings. That seems so much better than how migrants are now being handled. I wonder why Biden hasn't resurrected that method... hope it's not due to potential political fallout. It was easy for the Right to use that program against Obama, of course ignoring data.

They don't speak English, probably don't have much resources, and they're being shuffled around and dumped. Where do they spend the night (and nights ahead)? How do they support themselves? It must be very confusing and scary to be caught in some idiotic chess game.

The reality is that the places that are most equipped to take the immigrants in are currently struggling with homelessness and other problems. The big cities are typically where immigrants will eventually thrive mainly because big cities are the engine of the economy. There are jobs, and housing is more likely to come by. That however, is the same reason that the big cities are struggling under the weight of current migration.

I totally agree that what you laid out, would be the best response, and the response in best keeping with what the US likes to portray to the rest of the world as our image of, "Give us your tired, your poor..." The problem is that most states are run by conservatives, and conservatives don't care about people other than the rich. They like to hoard money and use it only to enforce the status quo.

Our country has only been enriched by immigration. What we need to figure out is how to distribute the fruits of labor equitably, and that pretty much means getting and keeping Conservatives out of power.

If they are illegal he has them in custody and is releasing them and then bussing them elsewhere.

If they are legal they are due all the rights of an asylum seeker.

I think every department of the Fed Govt that has a stake should play extreme hardball here.

Besides the civil and human rights violations i would think trafficking and kidnapping are possibly in play here.

Short attention span forgets that Italians, Irish, Chinese and others were not welcomed by all. Italians weren’t even considered to be white. There is no point in arguing with bigots.

One can only marginalize them. How? Well it gets back to one of my first posts here.

The best, the ONLY cure to WhiteChristianNationalism, race baiting, mysogyny, etc. is WINNING

Excerpt:
If you're tired of hearing it from me, this is from the epilogue of "Stamped From the Beginning", by Ibram X Kendi.
This is of course, about racism, but racism is the engine of the Repugnant party.
Emphasis mine:

Protesting against racist power and succeeding can never be mistaken for seizing power. Any effective solution to eradicating American racism must involve Americans committed to antiracist policies seizing and maintaining power over institutions, neighborhoods, counties, states, nations—the world. It makes no sense to sit back and put the future in the hands of people committed to racist policies, or people who regularly sail with the wind of self-interest, toward racism today, toward antiracism tomorrow. An antiracist America can only be guaranteed if principled antiracists are in power, and then antiracist policies become the law of the land, and then antiracist ideas become the common sense of the people, and then the antiracist common sense of the people holds those antiracist leaders and policies accountable.

And that day is sure to come. No power lasts forever. There will come a time when Americans will realize that the only thing wrong with Black people is that they think something is wrong with Black people. There will come a time when racist ideas will no longer obstruct us from seeing the complete and utter abnormality of racial disparities. There will come a time when we will love humanity, when we will gain the courage to fight for an equitable society for our beloved humanity, knowing , intelligently, that when we fight for humanity, we are fighting for ourselves. There will come a time. Maybe, just maybe, that time is now.

In short (you saw this coming) DON'T KVETCH, KICK BUTT!

Any time spent griping about things you and I can't control or influence takes away from things you CAN influence, namely ELECTIONS. That's the purpose of disinformation: to disempower you by focusing on people, and things you can't possibly control or even influence. And when that happens, they have won.

PLEASE focus your energy on winning. Lots of great ideas here.

In short, everything they put out is a diversion. It’s a sideshow to entertain the bigots they need and to distract US from writing postcards, arranging transportation, and writing kick-ass articles on DU. Brannon said it: flood the zone with shit. Exactly.

EYES ON THE PRIZE.

It backfired because cities made immediate accommodations to house these human beings.

So now they target places and people that don’t have facilities to handle the human beings or places to own liberal elites.

It will also backfire. We will see.

Isn’t this human trafficking? Especially if they are separating families?

the border by making it very attractive to come here and be transported without fear to much nicer surroundings. They are causing new caravans (I don't think so but it worked for the Trumpians) to organize to come here. Word has traveled back to Central and South America that TX and the other border states are willing to pay for their transportation to cities all over America.

already make it very attractive to come here. Texas is filled with undocumented immigrants working in the construction and service industry. Because immigrants come real cheap and employers can bank some serious $$ off their cheap labor. Same with Florida and every other red state bellyaching about immigration. Anyone remember the colossal failure that was the Alabama ban on immigrant workers? They freaked out when all the "illegals" vanished because no one would pick their crops or work their construction. Ever see Abbot or DeSantis or anyone else for that matter go after an employer for hiring "illegals" even know it is against the law? Yeah, no, you haven't. It's a we want you but we don't want you shell game and these poor people get caught up in the BS.
