Sen @ewarren is not happy: “We need to vote on equal marriage today…if there are Republicans who don't want to vote on that before the election, I assume it is because they are on the wrong side of history.”

If we lose the midterms this will not pass before the new Congress is seated. Make the Republicans vote NOW and use their extremist views to help us in the midterms.

She's a strong, active supporter of marriage equality. She knows where the problem lies.

Tammy Baldwin signals new concerns about getting 60 votes for same-sex marriage bill

By Ted Barrett, CNN
Published 3:17 PM EDT, Wed September 14, 2022

CNN — Sen. Tammy Baldwin, the lead Democratic sponsor of a bill that would codify same-sex marriage that faces a key procedural vote as soon as next week, said Wednesday she’s concerned midterm politics are complicating her ability to reach a deal on the legislation. “I think that we were ready to push for a vote for this right after the House voted overwhelmingly, in a bipartisan manner, to advance this,” Baldwin said, referencing how the House passed the bill in July 267 to 157.

In the Senate, however, the bill’s supporters need at least 10 Republicans on board in order to overcome a GOP filibuster. “But now we’re getting ever closer to a certain date in November and I think that’s a new factor,” she added.

Baldwin explained that while she believes there could be 10 Republicans who support the final bill, she is less certain she could get 10 to break the filibuster, as procedural votes like that often fall on party lines, especially without a final deal on language.

“I think the problem we have right now is that I think there are 10 on final passage, but we need cooperation on procedural votes before we get there,” said Baldwin, who is the first known gay politician elected to the US Senate.

Sometimes you gotta lose to win.

They're kidding themselves if they think the GOP will vote for this after midterms.

First equality, then overturning Loving. Evangelicals have been planning this since before I was born. One of my first conversations on race with my parents at about 5 years of age, was why I couldn't play with a certain kid on the playground. My moms answer-his parents want to kill us and one day you will need to kill them. At age FIVE!!!
I brought the subject up again as a Sr in HS at the Sunday dinner table after a sermon that made me physically ill. I pointed out mom was full Irish and dad full Cherokee. Hardest single punch I've ever taken.

that replaced the Roe and Casey decisions. They're anti-abortion, not anti- Roe.

Remember, just for one excuse they might use, that there is NO explicit "right to privacy" stated in the Constitution. One was inferred to have been meant by a liberal court, but it can be taken away by these people -- and their aggression strongly suggests they will.

claims from anti-Democratic Party LW groups is as necessary as those from RW counterparts.

If it makes Democrats sound incredibly (unbelievably?!) stupid and/or remiss for not taking some “seemingly” obvious action, like this, at very least they’re leaving out some important details. On purpose.

Just bring up a straight vote with no funny business, and see who votes for it and who doesn't. Then reap the electoral benefits if it doesn't pass.

The R's got hit hard by the abortion fiasco. They'll be hit hard if they vote against marriage equality - and you KNOW they will vote against it. That needs to be brought out before the midterms so that people have it placed in their faces before going to their polling places! Just like taking away women's rights. People will be just as horrified at taking away LGBTQ+ rights, as well. They have the right to know these hang in the balance before they cast their vote. I think waiting to vote on this until after the midterms is an awful idea!
