Everyone hates Putin except for maybe Xi.

Putin thanks China’s Xi for his ‘balanced’ stand on Ukraine

SAMARKAND, Uzbekistan (AP) — Russian President Vladimir Putin thanked Chinese leader Xi Jinping on Thursday for his “balanced” approach to the Ukrainian crisis and blasted Washington’s “ugly” policies at a meeting that followed a major setback for Moscow on the battlefield.

Speaking at the start of talks with Xi in Uzbekistan, Putin said he was ready to discuss unspecified “concerns” by China about Ukraine.

“We highly appreciate the well-balanced position of our Chinese friends in connection with the Ukrainian crisis,” Putin said, facing Xi across a long table.

“We understand your questions and your concerns in this regard, and we certainly will offer a detailed explanation of our stand on this issue during today’s meeting, even though we already talked about it earlier,” he added.

China and Russia are in an alliance. Do you ally with someone you hate?

He's secretly hoping that Russia will get weak enough for China to go in and "help" them rebuild their economy. If the Russian federation was to fall I'd expect to see China possibly trying to take some of their land.

Putin lied to Xi about a quick invasion of Ukraine.

China is set back on its heels now in terms of their hoped for invasion of Taiwan and
domination of the East.

China may have to re-think its own plans for raw power and brutality as a long term strategy.

Russia has in effect sabotaged China's plans for superpower status. And is blowing up China's recent strong PR drive.
China has been trying to present itself as powerful and mighty while at the same time, less imposing, less frightening, more family and child friendly.

China wants to be seen as a powerful, wealthy, happy people and country.

Who can forget the recent Chinese Winter Olympics where we were subjected to a cuteness overload:
adorable Chinese toddlers frolicking in various settings hour after hour. This was by strong design, not just a time filler.

But now we see Russia, one of China's closest allies, presenting a public image of troops raping and murdering women.
Brutalizing civilians and forcing the country back to the stone ages.

Russia is showing it is a fake, a liar and a coward. And an abject failure.

Some of China's recent comments, and public pictures appear to show the Xi-Putin bromance may be over.

The up side for China is that it no longer has to make nice with Putin, understands the power has shifted and can use it to their advantage. And they will go it alone in their quest for world power. Putin would only drag them down.
