No matter what the Democrats do, they cannot fix this crisis in our democracy.

I apologize if this sounds too negative, but the only people that can clean up this Republican mess are the Republicans.

If they choose to sit on the sidelines in silence as our democracy crumbles, there is not a lot that Democrats can do to prevent it. They can spend money and run ads and win elections, but even that does not guarantee they will have legitimacy from half the country. Republicans have to step forward for democracy to work.

If they do not, I do not believe Democrats can do it alone. We should keep a very close watch on the Supreme Court. If they rule for Trump and the cult, I will be tempted to believe that fascism has won.

Sheldon Whitehouse said this early in the week. Republicans are going to rig elections and it will go to the SC where Alito, Gorsuch, Barrett, and Thomas will rule for the absolute authority of states to run their own elections. Our democracy will come down to how Kavanaugh and Roberts vote.
