Texas Gov. Greg Abbott and top state lawmakers shifted around roughly $1 billion in federal coronavirus aid to help pay for their campaign to arrest migrants at the U.S.-Mexico border, exposing gaps in a law meant to bolster the countrys response to the ongoing pandemic.
And when Biden refuses to send more $$ Abbott just takes it out other funds.

(11,246 posts)to be. People there are not anything like their so called elected leaders. These people act like they have a certain lock on elections and they shouldn't.
We only have tabulators but I swear that they have been doing something in my state to steal elections.

(5,518 posts)The stunt it completely wrong even if it were done with private money. Therefore any amount of public money spent on it is wrong as well.
Having said that, the $12 million number seems to be a misunderstanding.
The math didn't add up for me because it couldn't possibly cost that much to move 50 people. In order to get that number, they would have to charter a plane for each individual independently. I am guessing the real cost was south of 500k for this little stunt.
So I went looking for that information and it appears the $12 million figure is actually the size of the overall pot of money they have for these evil deeds. From politico https://www.politico.com/news/2022/09/15/desantis-migrants-marthas-vineyard-immigration-florida-00056870
DeSantis this year convinced the Republican-led Florida Legislature to set aside $12 million to fund attempts to move migrants to other states.
Doesn't make it any less evil but the $12 mil does not seem to be all for that effort. Which means they have more funds to continue with the bullshit.

(3,689 posts)Busing or flying people out of State, from out of another State, is a self-admission that 'people of the State' are second-class to the tax-base dispensers.
The tax-base is largely 'people of the State' not being benefited, existing as a second-class to the coveting-class.
