Burns has produced a documentary (as only he can do) on the Holocaust. He is not insensitive to the depth of feelings about the Holocaust felt by Jews everywhere. But he has seen the Biblical comparisons that have been shown about the Martha's Vineyard situation.

Usually, I don't like comparisons of anything to the Holocaust but Burns has just finished an epic about the Holocaust and I very much want to see it, even tho it is so horrific. My husband and my stepdaughter (who is a rabbi) are Jewish. I am committed to their devotion to their faith.

The situation in Martha's Vineyard is different in that the refugees were met with offers of help. The impulse behind it was evil. Every religious element in our country welcomes the stranger, the outsider, not just Christians and Jews. It is imperative in these religions to help the outcast, not turn him or her away.

First of all, TuKKKer's tweet is not accurate

Host John Berman compared Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ shipping 50 illegal immigrants to Martha’s Vineyard to President Franklin Roosevelt’s turning away Jewish refugees from Europe, sending them back to die in the gas chambers. Burns agreed with the analogy.

Berman DID NOT say that, and I doubt Burns would agree with the statement as written. Berman mentioned using people as political pawns.

17. Just watched part 1 of the documentary.

I have studied the lead up to, the Holocaust, and the aftermath, and there was quite a bit I didn't know! Part 2 is on Tuesday, for some reason, and I plan to have a notepad so I can jot down names and notes. When you watch it, you will find yourself saying, "What has changed?" or "Wow! That crazy notion that history repeats or at least echoes, well, seems to be true."

It is unsettling because of what we know is about to happen (in Nazi Germany) and what is currently happening here in regard to RW takeovers...in Italy, Sweden, the UK, Belarus, Hungary, Israel, India, China, and the list goes on...
