"SNIP.......

Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) “introduced a bill Monday that would change how Congress counts presidential electors to reduce the chances of another effort to overturn election results like that mounted by former President Donald Trump last year,” Bloomberg reports.

“Co-sponsored with Democratic Representative Zoe Lofgren (D-CA), the legislation would direct challenges to state elections to courts and limit the vice president’s role in electoral vote-counting as ‘ministerial.'”

“It also would raise the bar to challenge a state’s electors to one-third of both the House and Senate. Currently, if one member of Congress from each chamber objects to a presidential election during the arcane certification process, the chambers have to debate and hold a vote on the objection, as was done in 2021.”

Cheney and Lofgren write about the bill in the Wall Street Journal

if the dems keep the house and dems get at least a 52 or more in the senate then the bill will have to be brought again under the new congress and she will not be there. They could call it the Cheney bill I suppose.

It was designed by slave owners to protect the rights of slave owners, ergo conservatives love it.

States Rights has always meant only thing. SLAVERY. End of debate.

Glad Cheney is making the most of her last days in Congress. This bill is a good start.

Doesn't seem likely, but maybe. Need more Dems in both houses and it seems to take far more Dem votes to win elections. Gerrymandering, 2 senators for each state no matter the population, etc.
