Something bigger is going on here.
I think there is a deliberate killer out there targeting children. There are way too many busts getting a lot more fentanyl that is dosed to KILL.
They are coloring the tablets to look like candy.
This PA talks about the 11 deaths TODAY at her hospital.

According to the Maricopa County Attorneys Office, Kimberli Guadalupe Torres-Marin, 26, and Alexa Torres-Marin, 19, were pulled over on Aug. 24 while they were headed toward Phoenix. In the car, Maricopa County sheriffs deputies said they found more than 850,000 counterfeit pills laced with fentanyl in duffle bags.
Two out of five counterfeit pills that come across our border are laced with lethal doses of fentanyl, said Maricopa County Attorney Rachel Mitchell. These drugs are being marketed to our youth in the most proliferous ways and are being produced in candy-like colors.

I am totally giving away my drug supply to random children from my front door on Halloween, just so theyll know to come back to my house with their lunch money.

It makes me sad and angry that Republicans are constantly making it difficult to focus on real threats based on actual science, because they always have a stupid self-serving agenda that they have to push.

Kevin McCarthys new fentanyl talking point demonstrates how hard Republicans are working to scare people into voting for them in November facts, science, and physiology be damned.
In an effort to make it seem as though President Biden and Democrats have turned a blind eye to dangerous drugs pouring into American communities, McCarthy during recent Fox News appearances has stoked fears over a story out of Bakersfield, California, about a school employee alleged overdosing after he merely touched a fentanyl pill brought to school by a 13-year-old student.

(59 posts)I saw two videos yesterday from health "professionals." One claimed 11 people had died in her hospital during her shift, and the other didn't spell fentanyl correctly while claiming multiple deaths. I don't believe either one of them.

(61,539 posts)The news reports about this are full of references to "coming across the border" and "targeting children" and the timing is right before a midterm election. It's an age-old Republican strategy to scare suburban moms and dads right before an election.
Fentanyl is contaminating illicit drugs because illicit drug production has no oversight or government control. Cross contamination is common. Very tiny amounts of fentanyl are lethal. It only takes a tiny amount of fentanyl contaminant to kill someone by accident. This situation is an argument for legalizing certain drugs and regulating their production. It's an argument for voting for Democrats.

Both well researched and well written
And ask yourself; why would 2 young people have 850,000 pills? The answers are in the book folks. The Mexican drug manufacturers keep switching up their m.o.
They learned to front large supplies of addictive drugs to create customers and make their dealers rich
They front large supplies because they can. They are able to manufacture huge amounts of synthetic drugs now in labs. No waiting for the poppies or pot to grow, year round production. No big bales of drugs to move
And pill presses are the latest thing for them. They are always looking at ways to recreate the market.
As far as targeting kids, I dunno, maybe they have killed off too many other customers

(3,846 posts)The fentanyl crisis is a right wing talking point... SMH
The issue isn't people intentionally overdosing their customers. It's poor QC. The amount of fentanyl needed to OD is miniscule. Fail to cut it correctly or mix it well enough and you get a few too many micrograms in a pill and people start dying.
