https://www.theadvocate.com/baton_rouge/news/education/article_97dc38c2-3a0d-11ed-a388-3f7b65892ceb.htmlMore than 2,100 students from Baton Rouge high schools were excused from classes Tuesday morning and hopped on school buses to attend what was billed as a College & Career Fair.
Some students, however, came away from this districtwide field trip upset, saying what they participated in felt more like a church service.
The majority of students chose to attend this field trip on the promise of free food and the opportunity to skip class, however the majority of students were not only disappointed by this event, but traumatized as well," Alexis Budyach, a senior at Baton Rouge Magnet High, wrote in a Facebook post.
______
Superintendent Sito Narcisse did promotions in advance of the Day of Hope event and spoke briefly to the students who attended.
Brittney Byrant, a biology teacher at Woodlawn High and the mother of a senior at the school, was one of those who took to Facebook to register her concerns. Shed learned the day before that she was serving as a chaperone for the event, accompanying her child. Bryant particularly objected to the organizers decision to separate the audience by gender and have the girls listen to a series of emotional talks from three female speakers.
They talked about rape (and) forgiving the offender, suicide, prayer leadership, and many more dark controversial topics. We had females in the bathrooms crying due to the topics of discussion, Bryant wrote.

Another parent wrote on Facebook, DAY OF HOPE? More like day of trauma. You prayed over my child, told her that she should remain abstinent, talked to her about suicide, and told her that if shes being abused in a domestic violence situation that she should forgive her abuser even if hes not sorry.

Forced to have the rapist's child.
Then give the rapist full visitation rights.
Making rape a right of males?
Like for most of human history?

(103 posts)I wonder why our society forgives rape so easily.
So many people rush to defend alleged rapists, and even idolize a convicted rapist (Mike Tyson) being presented as a sex symbol women must have. Nothing happens anymore when a public figure is accused of rape anymore, now that the #MeToo Movement is over. I know a Trump supporter who is very happy about that. Rapists are apparently now getting visitation and custody rights of the children conceived by their acts of rape.
I noticed they sugarcoat for the rapist at this event, by only calling him the offender.

(23,091 posts)Just lie there and take the rape and forgive him and have his baby and let him come to your house and perhaps rape you again and spread his vile hatred of women to the child I would sue them if my daughter were included in this dehumanizing torturous experience.
