At 17 hours post injection I posted a "community service" post about the getting the shot: https://www.democraticunderground.com/100217183304
This is my 5 Covid shot: 2 first doses, 2 boosters, and this last Omicron vac.
I am now 72 hours (3 days) post injection. I'm feeling great & relieved. I'm in my late 60's.
Day 1 after the injection, I was tired and slept on and off all day. I had very little appetite & averaged a low fever of 99.6. My shoulder was sore, but not bad.
Day 2 My fever was gone, & I was back in the pool swimming my usual 1 mile. My shoulder was fine & my back stroke unaffected. I did notice my appetite was still a little off, and I went to bed early.
Day 3 (today) I do believe I'm back to normal. I've got a huge pan of lasagna in the oven (whole milk mozzerella & double cream Ricotta - yum), w/lots of late season vegatables as layers. I get to use my Mom's old huge corning ware lasagna pan - makes it all the more delish.
Anyway, as you can see from how chatty I am, I'm feeling lots better. And even more so - relieved. My sister's hospital in SF got hit early & hard with Covid. She had to witness so many people die from Covid's suffocating symptoms. Truly traumatic for everyone involved. And then there is the "long Covid". Yes, I'm relieved.
Edit to Add: Just do it! Get the jab! Well worth it for health & peace of mind.
Thanks for listening. AnotherMother4Peace

(5,164 posts)It takes me at least 2 weeks to recover from a vaccine. I have a reaction to all of them but the flu vaccine is the worst usually, covid is second after that. With flu shots I always get a low fever, with covid I get what is a normal temp for most.
I had my 5th bivalent booster about 16 days ago. I still feel a bit achy and tired and I have some nausea for a few days as well as pain in my hip joint which I havent had for a while.
At least I have the full effect of it now. I hope it protects me well. I have to be in a room with unmasked people for several hours working. I wish that werent the case.
I just saw somewhere only 30% of people here have even one booster. So stupid!

(21,994 posts)1st day after it kicked my butt. Much better next day. I'm 76 so maybe recovery was slower. I
And my gf hike every day. Day after I felt crappy so hike was abbreviated. She also had her booster but she did better than me. She always does.
Wish I was swimming. Stopped due to the pandemic except a few times last year (2021). May begin again soon but have a bad left shoulder due to old injury.

(4,241 posts)lot of us it's low impact water exercise. It's a beautiful facility, so we do get elite athletes quite often & I love watching them swim. It's the best investment in myself that I make.

(3,335 posts)Just got mine today! Funny though, got Pfizer because Moderna wasnt available. Gotten 4 Moderna shots and now one Pfizer. It will be interesting to see what the difference in my reactions will be, if any.

(13,562 posts)and boosters before. She said they think you get a little wider coverage that way. I've known her for at least ten years, so I went for it.
I feel fine. I only had fatigue with the first shot. I walked almost for miles this morning. I had the flu shot in the other arm too. The booster arm was just a tiny bit sore.

(4,241 posts)the 5th in the Moderna series. He had 4 Modernas & 1 Pfizer. What your pharmacist said will make sense to him.
Yes, we should always, always keep moving.

(2,466 posts)I was fine the day of and the next day, but slept all day on the third.
Got up, had coffee, went back to sleep, got up a couple of hours later, had some water, went back to sleep for some more hours, got up, got dressed to go out to eat (it was my birthday.)
Poor planning.

(58,785 posts)for reports on reactions that I can watch for in my husband. We really need to get out and take advantage of this enormous benefit of being Americans. Since I'm on immunosuppression, my own expectations are for the usual invisible-but-hopefully-something reaction.

(28,787 posts)and am very thankful for it. My son is getting married a week from today and I just have a feeling that covid is going to crash the wedding.
I'm 67 and my only adverse effect was a sore arm that lasted 2 days at the most.

(258 posts)My 5th shot as well. I hope this vaccine lasts a year, but who knows? I expect to feel like crap about 12 hrs post vaccine, if its like my past Pfizer shots. But my discomfort only lasted 24 hrs in the past.

(4,542 posts)Neither of us had much reaction at all. My arm was sore for a few days, and my temp was slightly elevated the first night. That was it. Overall, we both feel great! And as others have mentioned, there IS a definite sense of relief in feeling as fully protected as possible. If you haven't gotten this booster, please go get it!

(45,410 posts)looking forward to it. My other shots were Moderna but that is not available anywhere near me but there was one spot available for Pfizer.
Glad your experience was good.

(6,926 posts)My arm was a little sore. My husband who has always had impressive response to viruses had a tough time Friday night (as did I in the same bed). Fierce chilling and then muscle aches. He shook the bed, I got another blanket and wrapped him and he seemed to settle after awhile. We did not sleep well. As retired RNs we know he got a great response from that vaccine. Hopefully mine was as good. We are both COVID virgins and hope to stay well.
We will take any vaccine that is recommended. Will get out flu vaccines in a couple of weeks.

(2,124 posts)We are both feeling a little tired, had a sore arm yesterday, but other than that, no ill affects. Had the Omicron, Pfizer vaccine.

(36,220 posts)Sore arm today and very tired.
That is great improvement from my last 4 where I was pretty sick 36-48 hrs.
I had Covid in late 2020.

(32,078 posts)It was Moderna, like the others. Until now, only #2 made me feel like crap the next day--chills, mild fever, muscle and joint aches, and severe fatigue. Nothing intolerable, though. I took it as an excuse to lay on the couch and watch TV/nap all day without any guilt. The others caused minor sore arm and bit of fatigue. So far, that seems to be the case for the latest jab. We'll see how it goes tomorrow.

(26,579 posts)It hurt like a mutherf***r, and my arm was in agony the next day.
It was the 1st Moderna that I've gotten, so maybe I was reacting to the greater potency. Anyway, it was two weeks ago Friday, so I should hopefully be in pretty good shape. My sons will be 2 weeks on Monday, and my mom on Thursday.
I hope it's actually effective. I'm getting tired of shots that just make it less likely that you'll die when you get it.
