So I believe she will eventually hope lots of dems are thankful to her and will vote for her for President.
I am pretty sure the way republicans are such cowards and she seems to be getting along much better with democrats despite sticking to her insanely right wing political positions. For her it has to be so weird to respect the politicians who are pro choice and anti giving everything to the billionaires and pro health care. Remember she hates trump and the insurrection. But, she is against the John Lewis Voting Rights Bill. She did support and actually help in crafting the latest bill that will stop the fake elector schemes and VP deciding elections in the future.
So basically Liz Cheney makes me nervous. I wish she would flip flop on just about all of her positions. But, that will never happen.

(17,981 posts) If Donald Trump is the Nominee I will no longer be a Tepublican! So strange that Dick and Lynne Cheneys daughter is the one to stand up for Democracy! But losing a tiny election in Wyoming will not stop her! She will probably move out of the backwoods, too.

(30,977 posts)Maybe if she hangs out enough with Democrats shell become a little more reasonable. Plus the only way to solve this is for Republicans to start voting for Democrats

(8,962 posts)She has occasionally crossed party lines in the past, but never to this extent. If the GOP somehow excises Trumpism and comes to its future senses, I imagine that she and others who are fed up with the current foray into fascism will likely return to the fold. Whether the collective GOP has the brains to realize their own predicament remains to be seen.

(8,962 posts)The best we can hope for is one who respects the rule of law and the processes and institutions under which a constitutional democracy is governed. On policy matters, they are still wrong almost all of the time. This is an important distinction.
Mr. Ected
(9,670 posts)She obviously is putting country above party and above personal ambitions. That makes her a good American. It underscores how pathetic and cowardly her fellow Republicans are behaving, though. They are good fascists, every stinking one of them.
Otherwise, her politics are atrocious and have no place in our society.

(11,394 posts)money from the military industrial complex (MIC). If the fascist take power that will be the end of the cash cow. The fascist will do like in Russia, they will steal everyone's money and property. And after they come for the Biden's, Clinton's they'll come for the Cheney's.
This doesnt help much.
Republicans who are fed up with Trump arent going to vote Dem because Cheney asks. They just arent. Shes earned some goodwill from Dems but theyll never cross over and vote for her in a national race either. Shes just too intertwined with the neocons.
I appreciate her statements but shes in such a singular position right now I dont see her as having any effect.
Until more Rs wake up out of their #Traitor coma shes a lone voice Im afraid

(17,981 posts)To ask people to vote Democrat to clean out the trash. Prominent Republicans all over are doing the same.

(44,063 posts)We need sane Republicans and independents to come out this November to help us to defeat MAGA Republicans.
Of course leave it to some DUers to find a way to make it negative with a speculative conspiracy theory. Sure, lets cut off our noses to spite our faces.

(89,239 posts)Why is it so difficult to not see things in black/white ?
She is a conservative but is disgusted by Trump and Republicans on these issues.
That's all there is to it.
If it was all about personal ambition for her then there are other things she could have easily done to have a realistic chance at national office. Instead she did the thing which killed her future in political office.

(8,962 posts)Cheney respects the institutions, political process, and rule of law under which a constitutional republic must be governed. So do the overwhelming majority of Democrats. Ideologically, she is also very conservative on most policy matters, unlike most Democrats. The bottom line is that governance that ensures the survival of democracy is at risk. The few Republicans that recognize or even care about this threat should be considered allies at this juncture. This does not preclude debating issues on their merits, and continuing to oppose conservative candidates who wish to obstruct or oppose progressive legislation.
