Taking the next logical step in the rainbow fentanyl panic, Fox News is now literally telling viewers not to let their kids go trick-or-treating this year.

I’ve know some supremely righteous who didn’t have Halloween parties. They purposefully had parties called something else. I’ve worked with more than a few people who made sure what other people knew how they felt about Halloween.

I’d say I ran across 5 moms I knew at work who did this. More than that just didn’t think it should be celebrated. Here and there over several decades but churches do do this.

is more closely tied to pagan celebrations. They are Christian, but don't realize that Halloween is the "safer" choice, belief-wise.

trafficked from the Mexican border and Biden is doing nothing about it. And the "alarm" now goes to Halloween candy.... candy which was supposed to be safe and fun.

Reflecting about razor blades and LSD were the scares about the Democratic supported Hippy drug craze in the 60's. I don't recall reading about any real lsd in candy or razor blades in Halloween apples.

I do recall in the 70's ( I was a teacher in a public school) and one day a math teacher comes into the faculty lunch room, telling us about a teenage baby sitter who put a baby in a microwave. Parents came home and were told that the turkey is in the microwave, ready to eat.

No, my post was not about being funny. It was about this kind of rumor having gone on in our society for ages. 300 years ago, it was witches and you had Increase Mather giving relief to a teenager who had a curse put on her. She expressed relief from her symptoms when Reverend Mather rubbed salve onto her chest.

Some other people were hanged for that bullshit.

I hope this helps.

when I was a kid, anybody handing out apples for trick or treat would probably have those apples returned through the front window.

You didn’t mess with kids on halloween unless you wanted some pushback.
At least not in my neighborhood.

All Hallows' Eve falls on 31st October each year, and is the day before All Hallows' Day, also known as All Saints' Day in the Christian calendar. The Church traditionally held a vigil on All Hallows' Eve when worshippers would prepare themselves with prayers and fasting prior to the feast day itself.

He was poisoned by his own father for insurance money, who tried to pass it off on strangers.

https://arstechnica.com/science/2019/10/forget-poisoned-candy-and-razor-blades-heres-the-real-halloween-horror/

An investigation into the death of little Kevin Toston revealed that the deadly dose of heroin didn't come from his Halloween spoils; it came from his uncle's stash. Likewise, Timothy O'Bryan wasn't poisoned by a stranger—he was murdered by his own father for insurance money. The tragic truth came out in court as his dad stood trial for capital murder.

In other deaths initially blamed on Halloween sadism, medical investigators found far less nefarious explanations. A 9-year-old who died while trick-or-treating in California in 1990 actually succumbed to a preexisting heart condition, not from poisoned candy, the coroner determined. An autopsy of an unnamed Canadian four-year-old who died after eating Halloween candy in 2001 revealed that she actually died of a Streptococcus infection.
