Good question Doc!

(37,985 posts)It is not a cure. Vaccines allow your system to neutralize diseases not deflect them as if you were wearing armor.

Looking forward to Dr. Peter Hotez's book next year, Antiscience Kills. Plos article on pseudoscience.

(3,410 posts)She woke up one morning with a mild rash and not feeling good. Hubby took her to family doctor. Diagnosis was measles.
I was shocked. Told my husband that couldnt be right, so I called the Doctor. I said you gave her the shots. How could she have measles.
He said shots dont protect everyone but her case would be mild. She stayed indoors with grandmother for about a week during the day.
I checked all around the neighborhood etc. She was the only case of measles I could find.

(14,854 posts)I also had measles even though I'd been vaccinated and so did one of my classmates, but our little epidemic stopped there. They traced it back to an unvaccinated visitor from another state.

(3,410 posts)Better to have protection even if not 100% guaranteed than to get diseases.

(14,854 posts)Supposedly, my case of measles was mild. If that was mild, I sure don't want to know what a severe case or even a normal case feels like.
