One of these days, one of those guys are going to get impaled by a sign pole. With that sign he was hanging onto...it looked like that thing would pop out of the ground if the wind increased a bit.

Then, it becomes a spear.

Cantore was saying, "Look at that! Look at that road sign!" It was a big green one, flying around--bending in the wind--looking like it was made of paper.

Having grown up in hurricane territory I’m one of those glued to The Weather Channel. Having Jim Cantore show up is like being visited by the Angel of Death.

What a disaster. The toll is going to be terrible.

If they didn't, they'd change the channel or turn it off.

Should be plenty of remote control cameras outside.

Stupid stunts can result in stupid consequences.

Some people climb mountains, some sky-dive, some are spelunkers......Jim digs storms.

I used to be much the same in my younger days. Hurricanes, tornadoes..... any sort of severe weather, I was in it all the way.

Nothing makes you feel so humble and insignificant as severe weather. We are nothing compared to nature.

Before a chunk of corrugated sheet metal or something like that comes along at 80 MPH on live TV.

There was one time he came to Biloxi and people were driving by throwing things at him. It was as if Cantore was bringing the hurricane with him, and the reaction to his being there was totally irrational.

I was there for Camille. We evacuated, but the devastation was just stunning. I met a man years later who was one of the people they had to parachute in with chainsaws to cut through the trees on 90 so help could get in.

My parents were here during the storm, so I guess you could say I went through it. Fortunately, my family and I got out of here for Katrina. When we came back, we were in shock. The places along the beach were totally devastated. I really don't want to see anything like that again in my lifetime. I'll probably move away if that happens again.

We were on the coast at the same time, though I was fourteen when Camille hit. I grew up there. Then I moved to New Orleans and my family is still in part on the Coast—Ocean Springs and other coastal areas.

I watched Katrina from the PNW, where I live now, in utter shock. The only family there at the time got out, thank goodness. But watching storms for hours is an obsession still.

Let’s hope this doesn’t happen again for a long, long time. I wish I was optimistic.
