Occupy Democrats is a dodgy clickbait site that pushes fake news and CT far too often, all in a cynical cash grab, plus it has stolen content with little to no attribution many times.

(35,619 posts)but I have an idea. Can we use this in Mitch's next election to cast shade on Mitch with his voter base?
(psst, Mitch isn't really a republican.)
Disinfo? Yes. But maybe not if all that's done is to show the IRS form in ads. Just do that, nothing else, and let the voter figure it out.

Besides that, though, it makes me furious that Democratic dollars went to this major PITA for us.

(9,038 posts)Probably just learned it from a certain other Republican group also widely disseminated in liberal spaces.
Obvious cash grabs are obvious.
I'll never understand people who read or share Occupy. They constantly have things blatantly wrong or false. Blatantly. I've called it out here more than a few times, but they just kept getting posted.
Where's the integrity? Where's the credibility? This is why I only read the Palmer Report. It's about trust.

(70,447 posts).... GOP operations/"think tanks", and Facebook?
Looks to me that we have double agents inside a phony pro democratic organization.
Hello DoJ ... gotta have broken some kind of laws in their operation. Raising money for
pro democratic memes and then kicking it back to themselves.
"...a quarter-million dollars of what the group raised over this past election cycle, Mitchell pointed out, went to Blue Deal LLC, which is owned by Occupy Democrats' founder Omar Rivero and his brother, Rafael...."
Sympthsical
(9,038 posts)Who have quite famously paid themselves, friends, and family handsomely with all their fundraising.
YouTube videos and tweets ain't that expensive.
https://www.nytimes.com/2021/03/08/us/politics/lincoln-project-weaver.html
The behind-the-scenes moves by the four original founders showed that whatever their political goals, they were also privately taking steps to make money from the earliest stages, and wanted to limit the number of people who would share in the spoils. Over time, the Lincoln Project directed about $27 million nearly a third of its total fund-raising to Mr. Galens consulting firm, from which the four men were paid, according to people familiar with the arrangement.
Tell people what they want to hear. Make some tweets or videos that can spread on social media as part of the "cause." Enjoy a retirement funded entirely by other people.
I didn't even know Occupy had a fundraising arm. I just thought they were some Twitter randos who were being dishonest for viral clicks. People sending them money feels like sending a pastor dollars for Jesus. It should be obvious it's a terrible idea, and yet the common sense doesn't click.

(10,135 posts)Occupy Democrats don't seem to know what liberal is.
Wow, it's more than just not knowing what's liberal, it's a scam. Giving campaign contributions to Moscow Mitch?
Glad I never gave them a red cent.
ecstatic
(32,653 posts)I have to look through my history but I don't think I give that much to PACs, especially not PACs with a questionable history. In recent years I believe it's only been Fair Fight and maybe Move On before that. Everything's a blur now.

(13,479 posts)from the start. I get frustrated when I see people share them. (But I have a sensitivity to all click bait type feeds.) From the KRassenstein brothers to Brooklyn Dad Defiant to Eric Feigl Ding, I am wary of people who promote themselves and un-nuanced soundbites.
