Question for weather nerds

Do you know of any sites or accounts you follow that report the extent of flooding in the case of storm surges, via satellite technology or something?

Whenever there is a storm surge I always wonder how far it is extending inland, worried about friends in harm's way. Do any accounts report surge extends x number of blocks from shore or something like that, or is it a matter of waiting for aerial reports and reports on the ground the next day?

Thanks!
