Last Petitions Gathered In Walker Recall Effort

MILWAUKEE, Wis. -- Organizers gathered the last of the petitions to recall Gov. Scott Walker on Friday, and celebrations were going on at recall offices around the state.

The massive petition drive generated hundreds of thousands of signatures and a great deal of controversy. Both sides had some strong comments about the message this recall effort sends.

Organizers wouldn't say how many there are, but Democratic Party Chairman Mike Tate said he's confident it's enough to overcome any challenge.

"We think we are at or on track to hit that 720,000 number, probably even exceed it," Tate said.
