Which is absolute insanity. Especially on those damned barrier islands. 6500 people live on Sanibel and the only road leading to it is wiped out. They should not be allowed to keep rebuilding in these areas with the rest of America paying for it!

Line the coast, so they can be moved out for storm season. But that loss of revenue would cause a recession, so no politician would ever enforce it.

but money is also a part of it.

Let the barrier islands and vulnerable coast areas be nature parks for hiking, picnics, and general recreation, but not living areas.
