I sure hope Will is ok!

(21,428 posts)It says that he is in Lee County. That's where Fort Myers is.
If he was in the hospital when Ian hit, no wonder he "signed off" as if he might never come back.
Hope he and others in that hospital were ok during the beating that Lee County took from Ian.
Spazito
(50,280 posts)he was in a rehab center because of the injury to his leg and the subsequent surgery. I hope we hear from him soon.

(57,073 posts)He was in ER & being relocated. P
Spazito
(50,280 posts)because his tibia has broken again. This is so sad for him. I hope he was moved to a safer place and we hear from him soon.

(57,073 posts)Ty for sharing! Hopefully, hosp staff got Will & everyone to a safe location.

(175,731 posts)I told him that they must be working him hard, even though he's not weight bearing yet. Unreal and the last thing he needed.
SheltieLover
(57,073 posts)Didn't sound as if any plans were being made to relocate rehab inpatients.
Ty so much for sharing.
I hope we hear from him soon!

(175,731 posts)The rehab place was planning to move patients to a nearby children's hospital, if necessary. That was when the storm was still heading towards the Tampa area, so I don't know if they actually did it. Or what shape the children's hospital is in now.
LOL, he took his laptop to the ER, so at least it's with him.
SheltieLover
(57,073 posts)I hadn't heard they were planning to move patients, but glad to hear it.
Was he in Tampa?
I thought I'd read that he was near Sanibel Bridge, but not sure if that's the same one that collapsed.
greatauntoftriplets
(175,731 posts)When I fractured my ankle going on two years ago, I took my laptop to the ER. He is in the same area as the Sanibel bridge that collapsed.

(175,731 posts)He didn't say where he was, but on Tuesday afternoon he messaged me that he was in the hospital ER. He'd apparently re-broken his tibia during physical therapy. The hospital's website says it's ER is open, but many patients are being transferred to other locations because of lack of power and water. Also, some of their facilities have suffered significant damage.

greatauntoftriplets
(175,731 posts)A re-break was the last thing that he needed. Plus, they were supposed to take out the staples from his surgery on Wednesday. I don't know if that ever happened.
I hope that we hear from him soon.
Hortensis
(58,785 posts)Still, you know he's under medical care at least.
greatauntoftriplets
(175,731 posts)In addition to his current incapacity, he has to be worried about his home and whether it survived.
Hortensis
(58,785 posts)at all the sound decades this could have happened instead. I'm old enough now that I wince at seeing all these old folks being carried around wishing they were still carriers. Before too long that'd be me too.
Oh, well. Hope he has good company while waiting.

(175,731 posts)Like you, I hope that he has good company. The people he's with are probably enjoying his company as well.

I hope William is the same.

(55,144 posts)My rehab facility was only a couple miles from the Sanibel Causeway. They evacuated us from there to Lee Health medical center and when that flooded, we were transported to one of the hospitals in Naples.
I am safe now and I really appreciate everybody's thoughts.

(175,731 posts)Bill and I have been DU friends for a long time. It was the worst possible time for a hurricane to hit Fort Myers, given that he was laid up in a rehab facility with his broken leg.
I'm just relieved that he's safe and in a safe location now. Despite everything, he was thrilled with the helicopter ride.

Really
The helicopter ride was thrilling? I probably would have had a heart attack from it. 😬

You'll have to excuse me on the use of that "a" word. I went through 12 years of Catholic schools and still know too many people who actually talk about their guardian angels. That makes me want to scream.
