Sure they put on that image of being independent and happy, but deep down years of employer beat-downs take their toll.

retirement in a cabin on a lake has been filled in by an association with seemingly strong Trump and MAGA, and thus the GOP. The GOP made the people live through belonging to a conservative group rather than in their own success and hard work. Of course they are insecure and cowed.
