Marchant has said that he wants to eliminate same-day voting, mail-in voting and ballot drop boxes
This Is What Happens When Election Deniers Let Their Freak Flag Fly
https://www.nytimes.com/2022/10/11/opinion/election-deniers-trump-midterms.html //snip// On Saturday, for example, the Republican nominee for secretary of state in Nevada, Jim Marchant, told a crowd at a rally for Trump and the statewide Republican ticket that his victory — Marchant’s victory, that is — would help put Trump back into the White House. //snip// Marchant, as he noted in his rally speech, leads a coalition of 2020 election-denying America First candidates for governor and secretary of state. It’s a who’s who of MAGA Republicans, including Kari Lake and Mark Finchem of Arizona, Doug Mastriano of Pennsylvania and Kristina Karamo of Michigan. If elected, any one of these candidates could, at a minimum, create chaos in vote casting and vote counting and the certification of election results. Marchant, for example, has said that he wants to eliminate same-day voting, mail-in voting and ballot drop boxes. He also wants to dump machine ballot tabulation and move to hand counts, which are time-consuming, expensive and much less accurate. That’s the point, of course. The problem for election-denying candidates is that ordinarily the process is too straightforward and the results are too clear. Confusion sows doubt, and doubt gives these Republicans the pretext they need to claim fraud and seize control of the allocation of electoral votes. //snip//

6. I'm pretty sure...
It’s registering and voting on the same day.

8. That's what stuck out to me...
I mean they aren't even trying to hide it anymore, not that we didn't already know what their plans are.

2. Won't be happy until 10,000 black people have one hour
to vote on the one machine in their precinct.

3. While yeah, if you eliminate voting...
Not sure how Trump gets elected then.
They need to go all the way and just say that you can only vote if you vote for Trump. They could save time by printing ballots that have only Trump listed (for every position). |

5. State Republican legislature will decide who wins.
Hell, they may try to that anyway in 2024 if Don the Con or DeathSatan loses the popular vote in AZ.

7. There is an irony here, of course
To be clear, Marchant simply wants to create conditions to make it possible to declare Trump the victor no matter what.
But some of what the right is saying echoes what Dems/Progressives were saying after 2000, when there were demands for paper-trail auditability on electronic voting machines. |

10. We never said that we wanted to eliminate same day voting...
just the opposite, we want to expand access to the ballot box to make sure everyone has an equal chance to vote without the long lines or jumping through hoops to cast our votes.
But him and all the other election deniers do want to cause as much chaos as possible to confuse the public. And if the court allows the state legislatures to impose their will on the process, then mission accomplished. |

14. Exactly
And wanting a paper trail does not mean the same as a hand recount. But it allows for a hand recount as a back-up if something does go wrong with the equipment.

9. Doug Mastriano will lose in Pennsylvania, I believe Josh Shapiro will win by double digits
... but things look scarier (tighter) in Arizona though.
We need every Democratic and Independent voter at the polls or mailing their ballots by November 8th. No excuses! It's an absolute MUST. ![]() |

12. I live in PA...
and am confident that Shapiro and Fetterman will both win their respective races but we can't take anything for granted and must overwhelm them at the polls in each and every state and district.

is to eliminate Democrats from voting.
Stupid f-wad. |
