Ukraine used a surface boat drone to attack the large Russian frigate Adm Makarov. It was hit amidship. The damage must be extensive.

(19,233 posts)What kind of shit equipment and training do they have, to not see and try to engage an inbound ship?
The US learned this lesson with the USS Cole.

(2,119 posts)...is something that the Ukrainians have developed since the war began, like some of their ingenious hobby drones dropping grenades, it truly is a beautifully designed and constructed product. If, perhaps less likely, it is something that our Ukrainian friends have been working on prior to the invasion, it's still really impressive.

There was doubt at the time whether it was a Ukrainian or US product.
Not wishing to rake up the Kerch Bridge incident again, but its prow looks very similar to what I believed I saw coming just into view under the bridge supports as the bridge blew up. That explosion may have been the result of a number of simultaneous attacks, but I'm still not convinced an important part of it wasn't waterborne.

If the ship that got hit is indeed the frigate Admiral Makarov, that would be adding insult to injury for Russia's Black Sea fleet. Makarov became their flagship after Ukraine sank the cruiser Moskva, the former flagship of the fleet.
Can't wait to find out how many other Russian ships got promoted to submarines.

(19,972 posts)was likely the main reason Pooty "annexed" Crimea in 2014. After Maidan and the loss of his puppet in Kyiv he was probably insecure about having continued access to his Black Sea fleet.
