ran a long interview with Kevin McCarthy this morning in which he was treated as the de facto speaker and given free reign. Apparently, he was allowed to lie without being challenged at all. It got so bad that when it was over Don Lemon openly criticized the journalist doing the interview (Melanie Zanona). He tried to do the fact checking himself. His two cohosts just sat there.
I read about this on twitter. Did anyone see it? I have stopped watching CNN.

(10,429 posts)Please explain how that is "left-leaning". Please explain how letting that lying sack of shit spew LIES unchallenged is "leaning left".
Enquiring minds wait with baited breath for your logical explanation.

(5,104 posts)I saw what happened to the Republican party when this kind of conspiracies thinking took over that party, and I will fight to keep my party from going down the same populist reality-denying path.
But thanks for asking!

(5,104 posts)and I don't go in for the spreading of right-wing originated conspiracy theories that are clearly bogus.
It is important for good Democrats to stand up for the truth.

(5,104 posts)Do we not have an example of what happened to the GOP when they went down the conspiracy theory hole.
America needs at least one sane party, and we're it.

(5,104 posts)I took the time to act in good faith and provide a sincere response to your query.
I'm a passionate and optimistic Democrat who doesn't think baseless conspiracy theory thinking is at all helpful to our party, doubly-so with one that originated on the far-right.
Liberalism depends on an attachment to reason, don't you think?

(25,162 posts)the country. They look out for the good of the people of our country. You may be a passionate and optimistic person as you say. But there are ways to get that across in a different way. Honestly, my friend the way you come across puts people on the defensive. As one who taught school for over 40 years, I realize that there are much better ways of getting your points across without being confronational. Just my opinion. I have a view of Democrats as being more honest, moral, and compassionate. I guess I am an old school Democrat.

(5,104 posts)There is a closed-club mentality here at times, something that you must admit. I've never experienced such a thing in my entire political life. Not ever.
And there are often hostile "group-think" responses that is used to attack people who question false shibboleths.
Even you accused me of being negative.
I'm not a bit negative. I love my party and I don't wish to see it do down a bad path. Embracing bogus conspiracy theorism is dangerous. We have ample evidence about that.
My mother--who was a career school teacher and a passionate Democrat--taught me to stand with what I know to be true and not to just go along with the crowd when they are wrong out of expediency. That's having integrity.

(25,162 posts)watched CNN since Ted Turner started it. It was refreshing at the time. I loved their on the scene responses to events that were going on for instance the student riots in China. As a long time watcher, I have found lately that the news is almost on a loop. And I slowed down my watching. I still watch my favorites Acosta and Cooper. I miss Lemon, They are trending to the right. So I watched them them to see if my observations were correct. They are no way a complete Fox channel , but the anchors are saying both sides do it way more. and the guests are more far right with no rebuttal from the anchor or rest of the panel.
I asked you the other day if you watch CNN anytime during the day or evening. You never answered me.

It's not entirely objectionable, but she doesn't bother to ask him "we,, how are you legislatively keep Fentanyl from coming into the US? How are you going to stop China from getting it to the cartels?" he also says that on day one they want to repeal the "87,000 IRS agents" that don't exist and believes it can be bipartisan....which means Democrats would have to repeal a substantial funding source for a bill we passed after a year ad a half of wrangling within the party. Sure, Kev.
Oh and he'll let Marge serve wherever because she was elected. after all (says the man who's threatened to remove Swalwell and Schiff from Intel)
