The other reason is half the base are rabid cult members who will accept nobody else.

(4,845 posts)But they are expecting a huge republican primary again (like in 2016). His rabid cult base can get him to cross the finish line in their primary again. Remember, they have winner takes all primaries. He can win a majority of primary while winning only 30-35% of the votes. That was exactly how it went back in 2016.

There is no way the GOP can "divorce" the Trump disenfranchised faithful/his brain-dead weekend warriors...the GOP needs their votes..and we Dems have to make sure McCarthy, McConnell et al. are forever superglued to Trump and his psychopathy...
