(22,214 posts)the nation owes her.
She gave me hope just about every day. I am glad she is staying in the House; think about the mentorship she can provide to the younger members (especially the young women) .
A Master Class in government!

(23,059 posts)Nancy proved her worth on 1/6 when she took charge and got the treason stopped and still certified the election the same day. What a freaking boss!! Damn, I will miss her brilliance, but she deserves some rest. Hopefully whoever they pick as next leader will grow into having comparable skills!

(21,300 posts)although we have had some really good Dem Speakers, none have dealt with the kinds of issues and political atmosphere that Nancy Pelosi has guided the country through. She faced down an entire political party that has fascism and treason as their central unifying platform.
She confronted Trump fearlessly. She led us through J6 and it's aftermath.
Now she can guide other party members with her wisdom.
Thank you Madame Speaker for your dedicated service to the nation and to the principles of democracy.
And this once again in honor of the time when Madame Speaker used it so well.

(22,214 posts)Senator Ted Kennedy
Speaker Sam Rayburn
Speaker Jim Wright
Speaker Tip O'Neill
Speaker Wright's opinion on term limits: "I am against them, and not just because I was in the House for so long. This is why: it takes a minimum of two House terms to really learn the job and be effective for the folks you represent. Hiring a good staff, authoring bills, following protocol and procedure are just a few things that need to be learned. We already have term limits - they are called elections."
The one reason against returning your Representative or Senator: voters will tell you they want change in Congress - as long as I get to keep the one I have. This is fabulous when your rep is a Nancy Pelosi or Jamie Raskin or Adam Schiff ( to name a few) but when you have a Gohmert, or one of those 2 idiots from AZ or the Crazy Ladies not so much actually.) The House members who are returned to office speak volumes about their constituents.

(9,671 posts)Another outstanding person to get the message out. We have a great collection of people to do so.
And on the way out, unlike Nixon:
She can step down with honor, having almost single-handedly saved democracy, and fought for the common good, keeping hope alive through 4 years of active destruction and malice.

(9,671 posts)Now that you mention it, I think that's what she told him.
I can't get over the look on General Milley. I can read his mind:

(15,634 posts)but Id agree. Nancy was the best in my lifetime as well. She got shit done, and didnt take shit from anyone, gracefully and with great effect, especially the orange juvenile. I didnt always agree with the decisions she made or paths she took, but thats true for any of them. As far as effect and results, she was the best for sure.

So many fine examples for those who follow in your footsteps. You are the G.O.A.T. Speaker of the House.
