It's Weird, but Democrats Actually Have Their Sh*t Together in Congress

It’s Weird, but Democrats Actually Have Their Sh*t Together in Congress
WHAT DISARRAY?
I know, I can hardly believe it either. But the Party of Pelosi is peacefully functional while the GOP is at war with itself.

Don’t look now, but Dems are in… array. The latest example is House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s decision to step down from her leadership post. Pelosi’s exodus looks to be an orderly attempt to pass the torch to a new generation of leaders. Imagine that.

Coming on the heels of a surprisingly good midterm where candidate quality and stability helped Dems, this (so far) seamless transition is another good sign. The troika (Pelosi, Rep. Steny Hoyer, and Rep. Jim Clyburn) who have been running the House Democrats are riding off into the sunset, while a new guard is riding in. Pelosi has set a smooth glidepath for Rep. Hakeem Jeffries and a new team to take their place.

Who knows if it’ll work out (in sports, coaches notoriously struggle with picking their own successors), but as the late business and leadership guru Peter Drucker said, “There is no success without a successor.”

Contrast that orderly transition with what is happening in the GOP: Ten Republicans tried (and failed) to oust Mitch McConnell as minority leader in the U.S. Senate, and Kevin McCarthy’s elevation to Speaker of the House is still questionable.

Democrats also know how the lead, govern, and respect for the American public. With them, The United States of America is strong and gets along with their allies.

Total opposite of the other effed up party that only cares for profits, tax cuts for the rich and revenge, hatred and violence.

or from a couple of their own. Pelosi and Schumer have run very disciplined operations for a long time. More than a decade I think. We haven't had anything on the level of the Hastert scandal for example.

The Dems have spent the past two years getting historic levels of things done with the slimmest majority. What's "weird" is that some in the media are actually acknowledging it for once. Took 'em long enough. What's really weird is that they're acknowledging the GOP infighting, too. I"m not going to hold my breath that they'll continue to do so. But then again, it's probably a recognition of the kind of shitshow we're in for over the next two years thanks those clowns. Which could have been prevented had these media clowns actually spent time reporting on Democratic accomplishments, rather than on the antics of the GOP Clown Car Caucus, and bashing Joe Biden.

they almost always cover the petulant and childish shit show that is the GOP - it prime reality tv stupid.

But because like everything else, they feel compelled to then find way to negatively cast the Ds, to balance things out, cause Rs have cowed them with the liberal media and media bias stupidity, even though it won't make a difference in that regard.

Or Chuck Schumer.

Republicans will waste time investigating nothing, but there is the business of the American people to get done too and some of it won't wait. Biden will get more passed the next 2 years then people imagine, but it will be in smaller chunks and more compromise.

The big thing I think he can get done is immigration. And there's plenty on trade and foreign policy Biden can get done too.

But Biden, Schumer, and Jeffries are pros, they'll let the public stuff go where it goes while getting deals made behind the scenes. And the Republicans have a slim majority in the House, defaulting on the debt is not going to happen.

Look at the Senate, take away the big reconciliation deals Biden got. He still got Republicans to play ball on a massive bipartisan infrastructure deal, a CHIPS bill, and the Vets burn pit bill. There won't be any big signature pieces, but Biden is the master at getting things done for the American people by finding common ground.

No president in US history has ever understood the levers of power in Congress like Joe Biden does. Watch.

LBJ, Biden and Pelosi learned and mastered control of the levers of power. They-and others-are what convince me that we shouldn’t denigrate the term “politician.” At some point-maybe around the Vietnam war, maybe around Nixon’s time or around the time Reagan the entertainer took office-“politician” became synonymous with “used car salesman.” It’s not so. Elected officials who, first and foremost, run to serve the public and who learn the ways to do that effectively, are treasures.

It’s a sappy thing to say and I’m certain the historians among us can gainsay me, but, there, I said it.
