(7,521 posts)I use the open source photo editing program GIMP. I import multiple images, keep them in separate layers, trim off the parts I can't use, then resize, reorient, reposition, and edit what's left. I want to migrate some of my efforts to a vector program, Inkscape, but I have to do a lot of study and practice first.

(7,521 posts)The phrase stochastic terrorism has been used a lot recently to describe the effect of dangerous and irresponsible public speech. Twitter, Facebook, and cable TV rants have replaced "crying fire in a crowded movie theater." Our problem is that we don't have an effective legal means of holding people accountable for the consequences of weaponized speech. We err on the side of free speech and hope that we can avoid the worst outcomes by taking some defensive measures and relying on the expectation of common decency. This approach has been failing of late.

(11,693 posts)The expectation you discuss also relies in the assumption of people acting in good faith. We have seen repeatedly over the last 50 years and with abundance in the last 20 years that Conservatives do not operate in good faith. They will use all of the rules and traditions in civil society to shield themselves while they try to destroy that same civil society in order to create their new feudal system.

(605 posts)Or do something worse than what the previous Twitter people banned them for. It should be interesting to see how Musk reacts when it is his investment that's on the line because of what these people said. It's easy for him to criticize the previous actions and be idealistic, because back then it wasn't on his shoulders.
I don't think Trump will be actively using Twitter, though. Unless truth social totally burns down

(7,521 posts)They crave attention and need it to sustain their "brand." There is a limited amount of public attention available and they are competing with each other for that love. The dynamic appears to favor ever greater outrage.
Also, it is clear that there are no significant adverse consequences for cruel and unusual behavior.

(605 posts)I'd find it an interesting social experiment to observe if there wasn't a real risk of danger that could come from all of this.
