And I mean that literally and figuratively. He burned Twitter's corporate personnel infrastructure to the ground and now it turns out he really needs some of those people. That's gotta hurt his massive ego, to realize he needs another human being.

Twitter is headed towards bankruptcy. Luckily the compensation to the employees will likely be paid in a bankruptcy

https://www.rawstory.com/elon-musk-twitter-layoffs/

Although the company had previously committed to pay out two months pay and one month's severance pay to laid off employees, Musk has been mulling rescinding that pledge, even though he knows it would embroil the company in costly labor lawsuits.

"Mr. Musk’s team is now reconsidering whether it should pay some of those months... or just face lawsuits from disgruntled former employees," the Times reports. "Many former employees still have not received any paperwork formalizing their separation from Twitter."

In addition to all this, the Times reports that Musk has even stopped paying rent for Twitter's office space.

Twitter has not paid rent for its San Francisco headquarters or any of its global offices for weeks," the paper writes. "Twitter has also refused to pay a $197,725 bill for private charter flights made the week of Mr. Musk’s takeover, according to a copy of a lawsuit filed in New Hampshire District Court."

Musk, who made his name as a pioneering businessman involved in electric cars and private space flight, decided to buy Twitter earlier this year as part of his effort to combat what he calls the "woke mind virus."

is what was meant - though oddly worded.

He took over on October 27. The November rent payment was likely in process or had already been paid before he started making changes and firing people.

Now we are two weeks past when the December payment would have been due. So my guess is that it was not paid and now it has been two weeks since it was due.

Liquidate anything of value (clearly the "brand equity" is now zero).

41. Musk set to auction off Twitter furniture, other items as company is reportedly behind on rent

Musk is taking Twitter into bankruptcy at record speed.

https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/other/musk-set-to-auction-off-twitter-furniture-other-items-from-hq-as-company-is-reportedly-behind-on-rent/ar-AA15fDqe?cvid=d9a50f3e839c49bbb33f28205330584c&ocid=winp2fptaskbarhover

Twitter is reportedly auctioning off items from its headquarters and has not paid rent at its San Francisco and global office for several weeks in a bid to slash costs.

Elon Musk, who acquired the company in late October following a chaotic legal battle, has been trying to renegotiate the terms of the lease agreement, The New York Times reported, citing two people familiar with the discussion.

The company has received complaints from real estate and management firms like Shorenstein, which owns Twitter’s San Francisco headquarters.

The firm declined to comment when reached by FOX Business. Twitter cut its communications department following Musk’s takeover.

The company, meanwhile, is auctioning dozens of items of furniture, appliances, and memorabilia, including a large Twitter bird statue, a giant "@" sculpture, and other less interesting items like espresso machines and chairs.

The auction will be conducted online starting on Jan. 17, 2023 and closing the next day, according to Heritage Global Partners, which is organizing the sale.

Presumably he doesn't need all that office space either with all the cuts in personnel apparently sensible and necessary. But when my husband and I do our downsizing, I plan to do it in better style.
